Apple announces 1 billion active iPhones worldwide

January 27, 2021 Apple CEO Tim Cook told about the new record of the company. There are now more than one billion active iPhones registered worldwide, an increase of 100 million from 2019, he said. The total number of various active Apple devices at the beginning of 2021 is 1.65 billion, in 2019 this figure was 1.5 billion.

Apple Representative reported that the company considers a user’s device to be active if it has interacted with Apple services within the last 90 days. In 2016, Apple sold its first billion iPhones since its inception. The company noted that most of these smartphones continue to be actively used by their owners.

Also Wednesday Apple announced about the record financial results that the company received in the last quarter of 2020. Apple’s revenue was $ 111.4 billion, up 21% over the same period in 2019.

Apple in financial report disclosed that in the last quarter, the company’s revenue from iPhone sales grew by 17% to $ 65.6 billion, and Mac and iPad sales also grew by 21% and 41%, respectively, compared to the previous year. It is noteworthy that 64% of the devices sold were sold through the international sales network.

Apple stressed that the release of the iPhone 12 line was a record for the number of users who upgraded from old devices to new ones, according to internal company statistics.

By information analytical agency IDC, Apple was not only able to increase sales of almost all of its line of devices, but also firmly entrenched in the smartphone market in the first place. Now the main manufacturers of smartphones in the world are Apple (23.4%), Samsung (19.1%), Xiaomi (11.2%), OPPO (8.8%) and Huawei (8.4%). Moreover, IDC experts in their report reflected that Huawei lost the most last year. Due to the new US sanctions, sales of smartphones of this company fell by 43%.
