Apple A16 Bionic compared in performance and efficiency with A15 Bionic, Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1, Dimensity 9000 and other platforms

The latest Apple A16 Bionic GPU performance tests are not a very significant improvement over its predecessor.

Recall that the Apple A16 Bionic single-chip system is installed in the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max smartphones. Reviewers have already conducted comparative tests, which confirmed that the new platform is slightly faster, but in normal scenarios this can hardly be felt.

These performance tests were designed to find out how much better the new chipset is than its predecessor and other flagship chips such as the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1. The tests were conducted by the Golden Reviewer.

As a result, the Apple A16 Bionic scored 3359 points in the 3DMark Wildlife Extreme benchmark. This is more than any other tested chipset. However, its efficiency score (444.1) was less than the MediaTek Dimensity 8100 (445.8) and Dimensity 9000 (465.8) single-chip systems. The Apple A16 Bionic is also about 20% more powerful than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and also slightly more efficient.

In the GFX Bench 3.1 test, the Apple A16 Bionic SoC also topped the rankings, but the efficiency of the new platform (23.5) was lower than that of the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 (24.6). In the Aztec Vulkan/Metal SoC test, the Apple A16 also leads, but is inferior in efficiency to the Dimensity 9000.

Compared to the Apple A15 Bionic, the new Apple chipset was only 5% faster and 20% more efficient. The A16 Bionic is also about 20% more powerful than the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1.

Crypto exchange Huobi today announced a strategic agreement with the Tron network, DMC Labs, and the government of Dominica. As part of this deal, the parties will jointly issue the world’s first national token, Dominica Coin (DMC).

Moreover, at the same time, a virtual ID protocol called DID will also be launched on the Tron platform. DMC holders will automatically receive a “digital citizenship” of Dominica.

Dominica DIDs and DMCs will initially be released on the Tron network, which is Dominica’s national blockchain infrastructure. In the future, the developers plan to ensure the interaction of the DMC token with the Ethereum and BSC networks via the BitTorrent Chain protocol. Just like TRX and USDD tokens, DMC will have legal status in the Commonwealth of Dominica and can be used as a means of payment in this country.

DMC will be released on Huobi Prime. The exchange will conduct a distribution of DMC tokens and enable the Dominica DID application for each registered user, the announcement says.

DID holders can also use the ID to issue SBT tokens in the Tron ecosystem. This will open up the possibility for them to become Dominica citizens in a future blockchain-based metaverse.

After paying the fee, you can also receive a printed certificate of your status. However, it is not yet completely clear whether such a document will have legal force outside the country. DID can also be used to complete KYC verification, obtain a loan in Dominica, register a virtual company, and a number of other government services.

The authors of the QuasarZone resource decided not only to achieve less power consumption from the RTX 4090, but also to achieve this in two different ways. The first is reducing the power limit, but the second is more complex – it is undervolting or reducing the voltage on the GPU.

As you can see from the diagrams, both methods are effective, and in both cases you can achieve an impressive reduction in power consumption with a slight drop in performance. In the case of power limit management, power consumption can be reduced to 268 W, with a loss of only about 6% of performance. Reducing the voltage allows you to achieve power consumption of only 232 watts, sacrificing less than 8% of performance.

Thus, the RTX 4090 can be turned into a mid-range card in terms of power consumption, while keeping its monstrous performance almost unchanged.

One of the overclockers from the Asus team said that the technology does not work because Intel eventually disabled it in the new generation of processors. However, next-generation CPUs may well support the new technology already fully, however, there is no clarity on this matter.

DLVR is a digital linear voltage regulator that complements the main one. This should allow a significant reduction in energy consumption.
