Another “plus” for Android 12. Customizable vibration effects in games

Recently, leaks of new information about the mobile operating system Android 12 have become more frequent, which are discovered by members of the XDA Developers forum in lines of code from the Android Open Source Project.

According to the source, Google intends to offer users of mobile devices running Android 12, improved vibration effects in games. This makes sense given the continued growth in popularity, quantity and quality of mobile games.

At the moment, vibration in Android games works quite primitively, that is, it is either present or not. Even when connecting modern game controllers to mobile devices, users get weak vibration feedback on their actions in the game, which reduces the overall experience.

According to XDA Developers, Google has added lines to the Android Open Source Project that indicate improvements to the gamepad’s vibration function. In particular, it mentions support for vibration amplitude control, which paves the way for creating custom vibration effects.

This feature comes in very handy for many console games that can be evaluated on mobile devices via cloud services such as Google Stadia, Nvidia GeForce Now, and so on.

GeForce RTX 4090 the peoples flagship The video card

In the statistics of the most popular video cards of the Steam service for January of this year, the GeForce RTX 4090 was first noted – and it immediately took 69th place. It would seem that this is not the most significant result, but everything is known in comparison: the GeForce RTX 4090 immediately outperformed the Radeon RX 6900 XT, although it has been on sale for only a few months, unlike the ex-flagship AMD.

The situation is even more revealing if we take into account that there is no GeForce RTX 4080 in the ranking. Perhaps the rumors that the GeForce RTX 4080 is nowhere near as popular as its “big sister” are not rumors at all. There is no GeForce RTX 4070 Ti in the rating yet, but this card is very actively sold at least in Europe, so its appearance in the statistics is only a matter of time.

And the Steam statistics are headed by old acquaintances – the GeForce GTX 1650, GeForce GTX 1060 and the mobile GeForce RTX 3060. Moreover, the first one even gained a little audience since December last year.

Microsoft has published a report on the results of the second quarter of fiscal year 2023.

Sales of Xbox and Microsoft games sank. The company reported for the next financial quarter

The company’s revenue rose 2% to $52.7 billion, while net income fell 12% to $16.4 billion.

This is far from Microsoft’s best quarter. These results are due to several reasons. First, there is a decline in revenue from manufacturers of laptops with Windows and PC sales in the market as a whole. Secondly, sales of Microsoft devices sank by a considerable 39%.

Also not the best way to feel in the last quarter and the gaming division of the company. In general, the Xbox division was marked by a decrease in revenue. Game sales fell by 13%, hardware sales fell by the same amount, that is, primarily consoles, and revenue from services and services decreased by 12%.

At the same time, Microsoft notes the further growth of the Game Pass service, but, as always, does not name the number of users and revenue.
