Android, iOS, macOS and Windows will allow one eSIM to connect to two carriers at the same time
Google is expected to reveal some information about the next generation Android 13 operating system at its upcoming annual developer conference next month. Sources say that one of the new features in Android 13 will allow you to be able to use two carriers on a device with a single eSIM chip.
As we already reported, back in 2020, Google applied for the corresponding patent, but now it has become known that this innovation will be announced very soon (Google I / O 2022 conference will be held on May 11-12).
Currently, eSIM allows you to activate only one subscriber line at a time. Therefore, Google is working to offer support for two carriers using a single eSIM chip. To do this, the company has developed the Multiple Enabled Profiles (MEP) feature, which allows one eSIM element to actively connect to two carriers at the same time.
Google plans to include the feature in the final version of Android 13 in the third quarter of this year. In addition, MEP support should be available for other devices, including those running iOS, macOS, and Windows, as outlined in the patent application. Pixel smartphones are reportedly being tested for this new feature, and Google plans to license the technology to other companies.

“I have an Android Galaxy Z Fold3.” Bill Gates reveals which smartphone he currently uses

The former head of Microsoft does not use the company’s smartphones. Answering a question about his mobile device on the Reddit forum, Bill Gates told what kind of smartphone he uses.
I have an Android Galaxy Z Fold3. I try different ones. With this screen, I can get by with a great laptop and phone and don’t need anything else.
Third-party sources, of course, emphasize that Gates could use the Microsoft Surface Duo 2, but, like the first generation, this device failed in sales and is inferior to Samsung’s foldable flagship on literally all fronts.
As for other smartphones or the laptop he chose, Gates, unfortunately, did not disclose the details.

Paid apps in Huawei AppGallery can be downloaded completely free of charge: Huawei has not yet responded

Since Huawei was under US sanctions, Huawei has been forced to switch to its own software solutions as it is banned from using Google services. One of them is the AppGallery app store, which has become a replacement for Google Play.
AppGallery has a pretty serious issue that one developer says has remained unresolved for months, even though he reported it to Huawei back in February. This vulnerability allows anyone with a little bit of technical skill, some free time, and a bit of inclination to put in a little effort to download and install any paid app from AppGallery without paying for it. Of course, for developers who support Huawei by releasing their apps in the AppGallery, this is very bad news.
Dylan Roussel, the developer who discovered the problem, emphasizes that this vulnerability is on the side of Huawei, which still remains unresolved. The bottom line is that the AppGallery API does not offer any protection for paid apps.
Roussel himself was able to download and use several paid apps by exploiting this vulnerability. Obviously, this is a big problem, because with the active exploitation of the vulnerability, developers will receive less profit from the possible sale of their applications.
It remains to be hoped that Huawei will soon solve the problem.

The new king of Android: Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus is 10% faster and 30% more energy efficient than its predecessor

Tomorrow, Qualcomm will host an event where the company plans to unveil its flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus mobile platform. But the key characteristics of the single-chip system leaked before the announcement.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus (SM8475) will be manufactured using 4nm process technology by TSMC. The platform will offer an overall performance boost through overclocking. The processor will still retain the “1 + 3 + 4” architecture. It will receive the main Cortex-X2 core, three Cortex A710 cores and four Cortex-A510 cores.
According to well-known insider Digital Chat Station, the architecture of the CPU and GPU remained the same, but at the same time significantly (30%) improved energy efficiency. Productivity increased by 10%.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus will replace the existing Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and will soon be available in flagship smartphones from various brands.
Digital Chat Station was the first to report the specifications of Xiaomi 12 and Redmi K50.
