And here the miners are to blame? Video card makers massively abandon GeForce RTX 3090 with centrifugal fan
Now, with great demand, any model of a modern video card is a highly profitable product that makes no sense to take it out of production. But, for some reason, the manufacturers of 3D cards did just that with one of the versions of the flagship GeForce RTX 3090: they removed from their catalogs versions of this model, the cooling system of which uses a centrifugal fan.
So, the GeForce RTX 3090 24 GB Aero disappeared from the MSI range, although it came out only in February. The same goes for models with a similar cooling system from Asus, Emtek, Galaxy, Gigabyte and other companies. Galaxy has already confirmed that its GeForce RTX 3090 24 GB Classic model is no longer in production, and the GeForce RTX 3080 Classic with a similar cooling system has been discontinued.
And then the question arises – why remove top-end video cards from production when there is a huge demand for them? There are no official comments on this situation, but there is an assumption that instead of the GeForce RTX 3090 with centrifugal coolers, the Nvidia CMP 90HX video card for mining will be produced. Allegedly, the CMP 90HX on the GA102 GPU is similar to the RTX 3090, and the cooling system with a centrifugal fan works well for it. If so, then this is an indicative step: it has come to the point that manufacturers refuse to release game models in favor of specialized 3D cards for mining. In this case, you will readily believe that the crisis in the video card market will drag on until 2022.

“The sale of SIM cards is really becoming more expensive and meaningless,” MTS will reduce sales of SIM cards and the number of communication stores

MTS President Vyacheslav Nikolaev said that the company plans to move towards reducing sales of SIM-cards, as well as reducing their points of sale.
It seems to me that now, when the cost of SIM cards has increased by an order of magnitude, it’s time to heal this market. Therefore, from the point of view of sales of SIM cards, it seems to me that the sales volume can now be reduced, especially since for us, ecosystem effects provide very serious advantages in reducing the outflow – this also allows us to take sales more calmly.
Nikolaev noted that an increasing number of customers are also moving online, which also allows, in terms of telecom, to reduce the number of their own points of sale.
From the point of view of telecom, it seems to me that this is a very timely issue, and perhaps the right actions will be taken by the entire market. At least we will go in this direction. We hope that colleagues will not be far behind, because selling SIM cards is indeed becoming more expensive and pointless.
As we have already reported, MTS may sell its tower business.

Samsung is preparing an “ultimate” SSD. The company teases with a promotional video with a new drive

Samsung has started teasing Twitter users with an advertisement for a new SSD. The company does not specify the details, calling the new Ultimate SSD.
Third-party sources expect this to be a new SSD (or a whole series) with a PCIe 5.0 interface. These may well be models of the Samsung 990 SSD line, which were previously lit up in the databases of regulators.
Samsung previously released the PM1743 PCIe 5.0 SSD for the data center, and it offers data transfer speeds of up to 14GB/s, so you can expect similar numbers from the 990 Pro.

Some motherboards will turn the Core i9-13900K into a power consumption monster. The power limit will increase to 350W

Intel can make the Core i9-13900K even more attractive with a new auto-overclocking mode.
The source reports that some motherboards based on 700-series chipsets will allow you to activate an increased power limit. In this case, we are talking about a value of 350 watts. For comparison, Alder Lake has a maximum of 241 watts.
The values of PL1 and PL2 for the new CPUs will hardly change and will amount to 125 and 253 W, respectively. But there will also be an opportunity to remove the limit, thanks to which the Core i9-13900K will be able to consume up to 350 watts. In this case, of course, the motherboard will need a powerful power supply subsystem, and the processor will need a productive CO.
CPU performance in this mode can increase by 15%, although this will depend on the tasks. Whether the Core i9-13900KS, which was previously assigned a frequency of up to 6 GHz, will be released under such conditions is now unclear.
