An epic update for Google Earth. Changes over nearly four decades are illustrated
Google has released a major update to its Google Earth service. As noted by the developers, this is the largest update since 2017.
A feature called Timelapse allows you to view the changes that have occurred on Earth over the past 36 years – from 1984 to 2020. You can access Timelapse at g.co/Timelapse.
Google has also uploaded over 800 videos to a separate directory. Anyone can download these videos in 2D and 3D format for free. The videos show how many different places on the planet have changed – the growth of cities and industrial centers, the decrease in forest areas, the changes in the Arctic and Antarctic under the influence of global warming, and so on. Many of them are already available on YouTube in a separate playlist.
The main sources of data were NASA, the US Geological Survey and the European Space Agency. Timelapse brings together over 24 million satellite images taken from 1984 to 2020.
Project leader Rebecca Moore said:
“As far as we know, Timelapse on Google Earth is the largest video on the planet, on our planet. “

The iPhone may finally have a feature that was still on the old Nokia smartphones. iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max may get Always On Display

Apple’s next generation of smartphones may finally get an important feature that has been on many Android phones for years. It’s about Always On Display.
In the current generation, in older models, Apple for the first time for the iPhone used displays with a higher frame rate. In particular, they can change the frequency from 10 to 120 Hz. The iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max may get screens that can drop down to 1Hz. And this will allow Apple to implement a very energy efficient version of the Always On Display.
Ross Young, founder of research firms Display Supply Chain Consultants and DisplaySearch, expects such a feature to actually arrive on the iPhone. Also, about a year ago, the appearance of this feature was also attributed to the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max, but for some reason Apple decided not to do this.
The Always On Display feature debuted on the Nokia 6303 feature phone in 2009, and then became more widespread on the Nokia smartphone with Simbian and Lumia devices.

Streaming Only – MSI’s New Compact PC Looks Like Xbox One S

Known for its outlandish design gaming PCs, MSI has released its latest creation, the MSI MAG Trident S 5M. And this model strongly resembles the Xbox One S console. For example, the new PC can be installed horizontally or vertically, its layout as a whole repeats the design of the gaming system from Microsoft. This applies to the placement of ports, cooling systems and the like.
However, the similarities end in appearance (except for the letter S in the title). MAG Trident S 5M is devoid of a discrete graphics card, so you can call it gaming only with a stretch. It uses a Ryzen 5000 processor – you can choose from Ryzen 7, 5 and 3 options with integrated Radeon graphics.
The novelty supports up to 64 GB of DDR4 RAM. The disk subsystem is represented by two M.2 slots for Gen 3 or 4 SSDs plus space for a hard drive. And all this is housed in a case with a volume of just over two liters. At the same time, we note that to increase the amount of RAM or replace drives, the case can be easily opened.
Among other features, we note three video outputs (one each HDMI 2.0, DP 1.4 and VGA), as well as a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C 15 W port on the front panel for fast charging smartphones or tablets.
MSI is positioning its PC as a gaming console for streaming games that can be installed in the living room. Declared support for Steam Remote, MSI App player and Xbox Game Pass. The OS is Windows 11.
Note that for the first time the novelty was shown at the beginning of this year at CES 2022.
