American Airlines plans to buy up to 350 electric VTOL aircraft
As we previously reported, Avolon this week announced its intention to acquire up to 500 Vertical Aerospace VA-X4 electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, and Virgin Atlantic up to 150 such aircraft.
American Airlines has also shown interest in Vertical Aerospace. She announced an investment in the British developer in the amount of $ 25 million.
The agreement of the parties includes a preliminary order, which will be made if certain conditions are met. American Airlines plans to order up to 250 aircraft worth $ 1 billion, and also reserves the option to order an additional 100 aircraft.
Recall that the eVTOL VA-X4 is a manned electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft capable of carrying up to four passengers and a pilot over distances of up to 160 km. Its top speed exceeds 320 km / h. The ability to take off and land vertically makes the VA-X4 well suited for urban environments.
The VA-X4’s first test flight is scheduled for later this year, and Vertical Aerospace expects to be certified for commercial operation in 2024.

496 hp, all-wheel drive and HarmonyOS. Huawei’s first electric car will be presented on September 12 – along with Huawei Mate 50

Judging by the rumors that circulate in the Chinese (and not only) media and relate to the premiere dates of new Huawei products, the company has revised its announcement strategy. If earlier car premieres did not intersect with other devices, now it is the other way around: cars are presented on the same day as smartphones. And so it will be with the company’s first electric car, the Aito M5e.
Recall, the other day it became known that the premiere of the nova 10 series smartphones will take place on July 4, and on the same day, Huawei will present its second car, the large Aito M7 hybrid crossover. It is possible that the car, smartphones and other novelties will make their debut on the same stage. And now the same is being said about Huawei’s first electric car, the Aito M5e. Its premiere is scheduled for September 12, and on the same day, Huawei is rumored to introduce the Mate 50.
There are no official details about the Aito M5e, but the car has already been listed in the Chinese regulator’s database, which has revealed key details. So, Aito M5e will receive two electric motors: 224 hp. on the front axle and 272 hp. – on the back. That is, the crossover will be all-wheel drive. The capacity of the traction battery will be 72 kWh. There is no data on the mileage on a single charge, but you can count on about 500 km.
Aito M5e is a mid-size crossover, its length, width and height are, respectively, 4785, 1930 and 1620 mm. But at the same time, it will be spacious inside, since the length of the wheelbase is 2880 mm. Weight Aito M5e, depending on the capacity of the traction battery, will be 2235 or 2350 kg. Externally, the Aito M5e will repeat the Aito M5 hybrid crossover, the first Huawei car. The interior will also be about the same as the Aito M5 – with a large screen in the center and a multimedia and entertainment system running HarmonyOS.
