AMD: the shortage of video cards will last until the second half of the year
The shortage of components and some ready-made devices that users and the industry as a whole faced in the past year has not disappeared anywhere in the current year. Many have already given their predictions about the period during which the supply will finally catch up with demand, but the leaders of the industry rarely speak about this. It is all the more interesting to evaluate AMD’s opinion on the deficit.
As the source writes with reference to the head of the company Lisa Su (Lisa Su), the lack of processors and video cards, observed at the moment, affects primarily gamers and the market for inexpensive computers. The console market will also be affected. The shortage will last until the production of CPUs, APUs, SoCs and GPUs is working at full capacity – AMD believes that the production recovery process will last at least until the second half of this year. And although the second half of the year formally begins in July, the pessimistic assessment suggests that the rebalancing of supply and demand will most likely happen only in the fall. Lisa Su also notes that cheap (or relatively cheap) components are not profitable for manufacturers now, since the margin on the sale of more expensive components is higher. Therefore, top-end components will be easier to find in retail than budget ones.
