AMD Ryzen 7 Pro 6850U processor, 14″ OLED 2.8K screen, up to 2TB SSD and only 1.22kg. Lenovo ThinkPad T14s Gen 3 Detailed Specifications
AMD Ryzen 6000 mobile processors debuted in early January, but there are no ready-made devices based on them on sale yet. However, this does not mean that such models are not being prepared for release. And among them will be the ThinkPad T14s Gen 3.
All the characteristics of this laptop have already been declassified, and, I must say, the ThinkPad T14s Gen 3 looks quite attractive in terms of the combination of features and mass-dimensional parameters. This model is not supposed to have discrete graphics solutions, but the GPUs in the Ryzen 6000 (at least in the top versions) left a very good impression in the first tests. In the top, this laptop is equipped with Ryzen 7 Pro 6850U.
Lenovo has provided five screen options for this model, all of them, of course, 14-inch. The base one is characterized by a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels and coverage of 45% of the NTSC color space. This is an IPS panel. The top version has an OLED screen with a resolution of 2880 x 1800 pixels and coverage of 100% of the DCI-P3 color space.
The maximum LPDDR5 RAM (soldered on the motherboard) is 32 GB. The NVMe M.2 SSD is up to 2TB. The laptop also received Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 adapters, a built-in LTE modem (with an eSIM or with a regular SIM card), a fingerprint scanner, a backlit keyboard, USB-C 4.0 Gen 3 and USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 ports (one each). ), two USB-A 3.2 Gen 1, HDMI 2.0b video output, 57 Wh battery. Dimensions ThinkPad T14s Gen 3 – 317.5 x 226.9 x 16.6 mm, weight – 1.22 kg.

Engineers came up with a way to increase the cooling efficiency of processors by 700%

US engineers have come up with a new way to cool semiconductor products, which does not involve the use of a thermal interface. Conformal coating in laboratory conditions has demonstrated its high efficiency in comparison with traditional methods of heat removal.
Electronic devices heat up during operation, and the greater the power, the stronger the heating, all other things being equal. This problem is especially acute with the miniaturization of devices. Researchers at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign have come up with a new efficient way to remove heat from semiconductor products.
Usually, a radiator is connected to the hottest places of the microcircuit through a thermal interface. For example, thermal paste. Instead, American scientists proposed to cover the entire device with a thin layer of polymer insulator, and “fill” it with a layer of copper on top, completely repeating the shape of the device. This conformal coating is in close contact with the device and effectively removes heat from it.
“We compared our coatings to standard heat dissipation methods. It turned out that our method dissipates 740% more power per unit volume.one of the researchers explained.
It is expected that in the future this invention will make electronic devices, including telephones and computers, more powerful and compact.

Kingston’s first hardware-encrypted, touchscreen external SSD introduced, compatible with any OS

Kingston introduced the IronKey Vault Privacy 80 SSD lineup. This is the company’s first OS-independent external SSD with a touch display and hardware-based data encryption. Kingston IronKey Vault Privacy 80 is compatible with Microsoft Windows, macOS, Linux, Chrome OS and any other operating system that supports USB storage. The line includes models with a capacity of 480 GB, 960 GB and 1920 GB, the manufacturer offers a three-year warranty and free maintenance.
IronKey Vault Privacy 80 is FIPS 197 certified with a 256-bit XTS-AES key and is able to protect user data from brute force attacks and BadUSB hijacking. Among the options – the ability to set multiple passwords (administrator / user), the choice between PIN and passphrase, setting password entry rules (length from 6 to 64 characters, alphanumeric combinations). The device will automatically lock if it is not used for a set period of time, and if the password is entered incorrectly 15 times in a row, then a crypto-erasure of the data will occur (all security keys are deleted). Kingston IronKey Vault Privacy 80 can also work in write-protect mode to prevent malware from entering. With all this, the drive is quite compact: its dimensions are 122.5×84.2×18.4 mm.

The huge and incredibly voracious GeForce RTX 3090 Ti can already be bought for less than the recommended price. EVGA offers these cards for $1,900

The GeForce RTX 3090 Ti video card, despite its status and limited supplies, did not just reach the recommended price, but fell below it faster than all other models in the line.
EVGA decided it was time to sell the new product for $1900, which is $100 less than the recommended price. For this money, the FTW3 RTX 3090 Ti Black model is offered without factory overclocking, but with a large cooling system that is no different from those used in the company’s faster cards.
So far, EVGA is the only one selling the RTX 3090 Ti at this price, but there are already quite a few offerings in the US for $2,000. However, it’s not a fact that there are many who want even $ 1,900, given that this is a high price in absolute terms, as well as the fact that there is not much time left before the release of GeForce RTX 40 cards.

The Ryzen 9 7950X will be able to run at 5.5GHz for multiple cores without any overclocking. AMD reveals demo details at Computex

Two days ago, AMD formally unveiled the Ryzen 7000 processors without giving much away. But she showed the new CPU at 5.5 GHz and the game Ghostwire: Toyko. And now it became known that there was no talk of overclocking then.
The company has confirmed that the 16-core processor has not been overclocked, meaning 5.5GHz is in line with the specs. It is also worth mentioning here that the demonstration stand included Asetek liquid cooling, but this does not mean at all that such a frequency for this CPU will be achievable only with similar COs.
Moreover, the frequency of 5.5 GHz was achieved not by one core, but by several, but there are no details. AMD said that under load, the frequency fluctuated between 5.2-5.5 GHz for several cores. That is, ordinary users who buy such a CPU should also count on this.
As for the name of the CPU, AMD itself, of course, does not name it in any way yet, but most sources talk about the Ryzen 9 7950X, which is logical, since AMD has not changed the principles of naming its CPUs for a long time.
