Today, October 8th, AMD announced the Ryzen 5000 series of Zen 3 architecture desktop processors. The new chips are based on a 7-nanometer manufacturing process and provide a 19 percent increase in inter-process communication.
The Ryzen 5000 lineup includes four new processors. These are two Ryzen 9 models, one Ryzen 7 and one Ryzen 5. Ryzen 5 5600X is the youngest representative of the new series. It has six cores, 12 threads and a maximum overclocking speed of 4.6 GHz. This processor will cost customers about $ 300. It is followed by the Ryzen 7 5800X with eight cores, 16 threads and a maximum frequency of 4.7 GHz. Its cost starts at $ 450.
The Ryzen 9 5900X includes 12 cores, 32 threads and has a maximum overclocked clock of 4.8 GHz. It is priced at $ 550 by the manufacturer. The Ryzen 9 5950X is the most powerful of the four new processors. AMD calls it the world’s best gaming processor. It consists of 16 cores with 32 threads, operating at a maximum frequency of 4.9 GHz. This chip costs about $ 800.
All four new AMD chips will be available for purchase at the same time. The start of sales is scheduled for November 5, 2020.
Also at the presentation, AMD introduced the public to a new family of Radeon RX 6000 “Big Navi” graphics cards built on the RDNA 2 architecture. Their official announcement is scheduled for October 28th.
