AMD today officially announced the Radeon RX 6000M discrete graphics accelerators for notebooks. The lineup consists of three models: Radeon RX 6800M, Radeon RX 6700M and Radeon RX 6600M.

The Radeon RX 6800M is built on a Navi 22 GPU with 2560 stream processors. It received 12 GB of GDDR6 memory and 96 MB of fast Infinity Cache. The GPU runs at 2.3 GHz and has a 192-bit memory bus.

The company notes that the Radeon RX 6800M in games is 1.4-1.7 times faster than the RTX 2070, and when compared with the Ampere line, it is about the level of the flagship GeForce RTX 3080. Not surprisingly, this model is addressed to powerful laptops with power consumption more than 145 watts.

The Radeon RX 6700M also uses the Navi 22 GPU, but a stripped down one with 2304 stream processors. The RX 5700M and RX 5600M have the same, but the Radeon RX 6700M has more advantages due to its more modern architecture.

The memory bus width in this case has been cut down to 160 bits, and the GDDR6 memory capacity is 10 GB. The processor frequency is still the same 2.3 GHz, but the fast memory of the Infinty Cache is less than that of the older model – 80 MB. This 3D accelerator will be used in notebooks with power consumption up to 135W.

The Radeon RX 6600M is the only model in the new lineup built on GPU Navi 23. It has 1,792 stream processors, 128-bit memory bus and 8 GB of GDDR6 memory. The GPU operates at a frequency of 2177 MHz and, according to the developers, provides performance sufficient for most modern games at a Full HD screen resolution.

The test started at 20:00. The author launched a browser with a dozen tabs, Spotify and set the brightness to 50%. Later on, the load on the PC increased as additional applications were launched, including Google Docs, After Effects, Instagram, Swift Playgrounds 4 game, PugetBench, Lightroom and so on. It is also worth noting that from 2:13 to 8:15, while the author was sleeping, YouTube was running on the laptop.

As a result, around 12:30 the laptop still turned off. He worked 16 hours and 30 minutes. The load at the same time quite corresponded to some conditionally average. If limited, for example, to the browser and typing, the laptop will probably last even longer.

YouTube channel Max Tech and Created Tech tested this version with the Blackmagic Disk Speed ​​Test app and found that the SSD read and write speeds are about 1450 MB/s, which is about 50% slower when reading and about 30% slower when writing. compared to a 13-inch Apple M1-based MacBook Pro with a 256GB SSD.
