AMD can fight the latest Intel CPUs with old Athlons. Athlon Gold Pro 4150GE performs well in tests

The family of AMD Athlon processors, as we know, should soon be replenished with more modern models. And today we have another test of Athlon Gold Pro 4150GE.

Recall that this is a quad-core APU without SMT support, based on the Zen 2 architecture. Yes, it is several years old, but it is much better than the current Zen-based Athlons.

In Geekbench 5, the new AMD scores about 1100 and 3700 points in single-threaded and multi-threaded modes, respectively.

As you can see, in the first case, the new product loses a lot to modern Intel CPUs, but multi-threaded performance is much more important. And here the brand new Pentium G7400 with its two, albeit more modern, cores is left behind.

So, technically AMD can fight the younger Intel Alder Lake CPUs with its updated older generation APUs, but the question of price remains open. The Pentium G7400 costs only 70-80 USD or EUR, and it’s not certain that AMD will be able to offer a similar price.

NASA’s Ingenuity helicopter survives a blackout on Mars

NASAs Ingenuity helicopter survives a blackout on Mars

NASA has reestablished contact with its Ingenuity helicopter on Mars.

NASA's Ingenuity helicopter survives a blackout on Mars

The team’s chief engineer, Travis Brown, explained that radio contact was lost for six Martian sols — just under six days and six hours — after Ingenuity’s 49th flight.

According to the expert, disconnection was not initially a serious problem. The helicopter switched into and out of night survival mode, which made it difficult to contact daily from the 685th sol and communication interruption for a day or two did not bother the team. However, after the Perseverance rover went to a more favorable place for communication, the Ingenuity helicopter could not be found, which already worried the mission team.

Brown emphasized:

In more than 700 sols of helicopter operation on Mars, we have never experienced a complete radio outage. Even in the worst conditions, we have always seen signs of activity.

However, with the advent of sol 761 and the next day, the team received a response from the helicopter, and then “disappeared from the line” again. The mission team realized that the problems were due to the ridge separating the rover and helicopter, and Perseverance moved to the next location to fix them.

However, for the safety of the rover’s movements through the narrow channels of the dry river delta in Lake Crater, it is imperative that Ingenuity fly ahead and conduct checks. The team from Earth was able to upload the flight plan to Ingenuity. Brown said:

It would be an understatement to say that the helicopter crew was relieved to see the successful telemetry of the 763 Martian day link flight the next morning.

Is Dimensity 9300 Enough Power for PC MediaTek confirmed the

It looks like the Dimensity 9300 single-chip system will be incredibly powerful. Perhaps, already at the start, it will easily overtake even the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. MediaTek has confirmed that its new solution will use the Cortex-X4 cores that were introduced yesterday.

Is Dimensity 9300 Enough Power for PC? MediaTek confirmed the use of Cortex-X4 and Cortex-A720 cores, but did not mention small cores

In addition, the configuration of the new SoC will include Cortex-A720 cores and Immortalis-G720 GPUs. It is important to note that MediaTek did not mention anything about the small cores of the Cortex-A520 or any other. And some time ago, an insider Digital Chat Station reported that Dimensity 9300 will receive four Cortex-X4 cores and four Cortex-A720. That is, apparently, the new platform will not have small cores at all. Of course, it’s too early to talk about this confidently, but so far MediaTek’s statement indirectly confirms the rumors.

Recall that Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, according to available data, will have a configuration of 1 + 5 + 2, that is, there will be only one super-core, and there will be two small cores. This configuration is unlikely to compete with the 4 + 4 of the Dimensity 9300.

It also becomes clear from MediaTek’s statement that at least the company’s upcoming top platform will not receive an Nvidia GPU. Such rumors have already appeared twice on the Web, yesterday the companies confirmed them, but so far this only applies to automotive platforms.

Soon, a smartphone should appear on the market that will combine both a huge battery and ultra-fast charging.

We are talking about a battery with a capacity of 6000 mAh and charging power of 100 watts. This or similar combination is almost never found on the market. In fact, there are only Nubia Red Magic 8 Pro and iQOO Z7X with such batteries and 80W charging.

Digital Chat Station insider says that such a device will soon be released by one of the Chinese brands that are part of the BBK concern. Recall that it includes Oppo, OnePlus, Realme, Vivo and iQOO.

From this list, probably only OnePlus is unlikely to release such a smartphone, and the rest of the companies may well.

Digital Chat Station was previously the first to accurately announce the specifications and release dates of Redmi K30, K40, Xiaomi Mi 10 and Mi 11.
