Electric car maker XPeng Motors, already dubbed its Chinese rival Tesla, unveiled the same smart electric crossover at the Guangzhou auto show, the first image of which was shown in early November. The model was named XPeng G9.

XPeng G9 is built on the basis of a new proprietary architecture for electric vehicles, received an advanced driver assistance system (Advanced Driver Assistance System or ADAS), as well as very fast charging.

Note that XPeng Motors has become one of the most famous electric vehicle manufacturers in China. Currently, there are three cars of the company on the market. The first was the G3 crossover, which debuted in 2018, followed by the P7 sedan in 2019. Since then, the automaker has been expanding outside of China, with both electric vehicles being introduced in Europe.

In August 2020, XPeng unveiled its third electric vehicle, a second sedan called the P5. It is seen as a direct competitor to the Tesla Model 3 with a significantly lower price tag.

The newest XPeng G9 was developed not so much for China as for the international market. It immediately complies with the Chinese C-NCAP and European E-NCAP safety standards as well as the European WVTA EU vehicle certification standards. The model is considered as a competitor to cars such as Tesla Model Y, Nio ES6 and Li Auto Li One.

The electric car will be the first to receive the proprietary XPeng X-Pilot 4.0 ADAS driver assistance system, which provides many automatic scenarios – from starting the electric vehicle to parking, but has not yet reached the level of full autopilot. The system uses two NVIDIA Tegra Orin-X SoCs, different cameras on all sides of the car, and a pair of lidars.

It also uses the new XPeng X-EEA 3.0 platform that integrates hardware, software and communications. The automaker promises that the platform allows over-the-air (FOTA) firmware updates to be installed in just 30 minutes.

As for fast charging, the G9 uses a new generation XPower 3.0 powerplant with support for 800 V. As XPeng promises, an electric car will be able to get enough energy in 5 minutes to travel 200 km. All this will be possible when using proprietary fast charging stations with a capacity of 480 kW, capable of withstanding amperage more than 670 A. Also, water protection (IP67) is noted for safer charging.

Unfortunately, XPeng Motors has yet to share many interesting details about the car, including range, engine power and price. Apparently, all this will become known closer to the release, which will take place in the third quarter of 2022.

Tesla has released a limited edition Cybertruck-themed GigaBier beer. Beer is offered for $30.

It is worth recognizing that this is not the first original idea from Elon Musk’s companies. Previously, The Boring Company offered flamethrowers and Burnt Hair cologne with the smell of burnt hair, and Tesla released a Cyberwhistle in the spirit of Cybertruck. Of course, there was Tesla branded tequila. By the way, at the time of its announcement, they also thought that this was an April Fool’s joke.

The Chinese sat down Qualcomm and Nvidia China launches its

Many cars are now equipped with Qualcomm SoCs (which are responsible for both multimedia capabilities and driver assistance systems) and Nvidia Drive systems-on-a-chip (for advanced autonomous driving functions). But China managed to release a competitor, if not to Nvidia platforms, then to Qualcomm for sure: mass production of the 7-nanometer SoC Dragon Eagle No. 1 for use in cars (so-called “digital cockpit systems”).

Wang Kai, CEO of SiEngine Technology, said work on Dragon Eagle No. 1 was carried out for three years. During this time, the system was developed, verified, tested and launched into mass production.

SoC includes all standard components including 8-core CPU, 14-core GPU, LPDDR5-6400 memory controller, 8 TOPS Neural Processor (AI Task Accelerator), ISP, DSP clusters and other typical Components.

It is reported that as early as the middle of the year, many new car models will be released in China that will use the Dragon Eagle No. 1. Among these automakers are Geely and FAW.
