Electric car maker XPeng Motors, already dubbed its Chinese rival Tesla, unveiled the same smart electric crossover at the Guangzhou auto show, the first image of which was shown in early November. The model was named XPeng G9.
XPeng G9 is built on the basis of a new proprietary architecture for electric vehicles, received an advanced driver assistance system (Advanced Driver Assistance System or ADAS), as well as very fast charging.
Note that XPeng Motors has become one of the most famous electric vehicle manufacturers in China. Currently, there are three cars of the company on the market. The first was the G3 crossover, which debuted in 2018, followed by the P7 sedan in 2019. Since then, the automaker has been expanding outside of China, with both electric vehicles being introduced in Europe.
In August 2020, XPeng unveiled its third electric vehicle, a second sedan called the P5. It is seen as a direct competitor to the Tesla Model 3 with a significantly lower price tag.
The newest XPeng G9 was developed not so much for China as for the international market. It immediately complies with the Chinese C-NCAP and European E-NCAP safety standards as well as the European WVTA EU vehicle certification standards. The model is considered as a competitor to cars such as Tesla Model Y, Nio ES6 and Li Auto Li One.
The electric car will be the first to receive the proprietary XPeng X-Pilot 4.0 ADAS driver assistance system, which provides many automatic scenarios – from starting the electric vehicle to parking, but has not yet reached the level of full autopilot. The system uses two NVIDIA Tegra Orin-X SoCs, different cameras on all sides of the car, and a pair of lidars.
It also uses the new XPeng X-EEA 3.0 platform that integrates hardware, software and communications. The automaker promises that the platform allows over-the-air (FOTA) firmware updates to be installed in just 30 minutes.
As for fast charging, the G9 uses a new generation XPower 3.0 powerplant with support for 800 V. As XPeng promises, an electric car will be able to get enough energy in 5 minutes to travel 200 km. All this will be possible when using proprietary fast charging stations with a capacity of 480 kW, capable of withstanding amperage more than 670 A. Also, water protection (IP67) is noted for safer charging.
Unfortunately, XPeng Motors has yet to share many interesting details about the car, including range, engine power and price. Apparently, all this will become known closer to the release, which will take place in the third quarter of 2022.
Tesla Semi electric trucks are finally ready to go: Tesla started accepting pre-orders
Tesla has delayed the release of the electric truck due to the coronavirus pandemic and the global chip shortage, but now the manufacturer has announced the start of accepting pre-orders for the Tesla Semi. Those wishing to place a pre-order must transfer $ 20,000, but there is no exact date for the start of shipments yet.
At the time of the announcement of the Tesla Semi in 2017, the automaker said that production versions of the 36-ton electric truck would have a range of about 480 and 800 km at a price of $150,000 and $180,000, respectively. The truck can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) in 20 seconds, even with a huge load.
In March last year, it became known that Tesla was building a production line for the Tesla Semi in a new building near the Gigafactory Nevada in order to produce five Tesla Semi electric trucks per week by the end of 2021. However, in July last year it became known that the release of the Tesla Semi was postponed to 2022 “due to limited availability of battery cells and problems with the global supply chain.”
The Tesla Semi is expected to offer significant fuel savings over traditional trucks. It is predicted to save up to $100,000 per year in operating costs. If the forecasts are confirmed, then the Tesla Semi could bring revolutionary changes to the transportation industry.
15.6″ bezel-less screen, 326 hp, autopilot and NFC support. Details about the new crossover Chery and Huawei
Chery has released details on the specifications of the Jetour Dasheng crossover, which was co-developed with tech giant Huawei.
Jetour Dasheng in the basic version is equipped with a 1.5-liter engine with 156 hp, which works with either a 6-speed “mechanics” or a “robot” with two clutches. Also in the lineup will be a 1.6-liter engine with 197 hp, which works with a preselective “robot”. D in both cases, the drive is front.
The older all-wheel drive hybrid version with the Kunpeng DHT installation, which consists of a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine and two electric motors, will produce a total of 326 hp. power. The battery capacity is 19.27 kWh. A car can only travel 100 km on electricity, which is a lot for a hybrid. With the combined operation of internal combustion engines and electric motors, fuel consumption is only 1 liter per 100 kilometers.
In the cabin of Jetour Dasheng there is a large horizontally oriented tablet without frames, the diagonal of which is 15.6 inches. The 8-inch digital instrument cluster screen is located in front of the driver. In the basic version, Jetour Dasheng is equipped with an augmented reality projection display.
The touch-sensitive climate control buttons are placed on the doors, and a retractable footrest is provided for the front passenger. Contactless door opening using a smartphone and NFC technology has also been announced. The car will offer adaptive cruise control, and later Huawei will implement Level 3 Autopilot, which allows you to take your hands off the wheel.
The launch of Jetour Dasheng sales in China is scheduled for the second half of 2022.
Tesla did not receive special conditions and abandoned plans to enter the Indian market
Tesla has abandoned its plans to enter the Indian market. This is attributed to the inability of the Indian government to achieve tariff cuts.
This could be a blow to the expected number of jobs that could be created in India with Tesla’s presence. India remains the largest market in the world where Tesla has yet to be officially represented. Strong import tariffs have been a major impediment to Tesla’s entry into the Indian market. However, there were some indications that the company could enter the market in 2022. Previously, an Indian facility was established in Bangalore as a local arm of the brand.
India has an incentive strategy for local EV manufacturers, including high import tariffs on EVs. This policy has made it difficult for foreign electric vehicles from China and the US to enter the market. Tesla planned to build an electric car factory in India, but intended to see how its cars perform in the market first. The Indian government, through its transport minister, has said it wants Tesla to build cars inside India rather than relying on imports from China. In addition, the country has not yet established a service center and Supercharger charging stations.
Some of Tesla’s key employees in India are currently being transferred to work in other countries. The government will not provide Tesla with special conditions for the construction of the plant, so the company will continue to develop in other countries for the time being.
