All-new Volkswagen Tiguan 2024 unveiled. Up to 268 hp, revised suspension, 15-inch screen in the cabin and all-new interior
Volkswagen today officially unveiled the new generation Tiguan crossover. The 2024 Tiguan will arrive in the UK in early 2024. Probably, sales will begin in other European countries at the same time, and a little later the crossover will reach the United States.
The new car is built on the MQB Evo platform. All versions are equipped with a DSG robotic gearbox: 7-speed for conventional versions with internal combustion engines and 6-speed for plug-in hybrids.
With the change of generations, Tiguan has increased in size – dimensions are 4539 x 1842 x 1639 mm. Tiguan 2024 turned out to be 30 mm longer than the previous generation car and 4 mm higher, but the wheelbase has not changed (2680 mm). Volkswagen says that the interior has become more spacious, and the trunk of regular (non-hybrid) versions has added 37 liters of volume – up to 652 liters.
The base Volkswagen Tiguan 2024 is equipped with an eTSI power plant based on a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine. The power of such a “mild” hybrid is 129 or 148 hp. One step higher is a 2.0-liter gasoline engine, and also in two power options: 201 and 261 hp. The 2.0-liter diesel engine also has two power options: 148 and 190 hp. The most powerful petrol and diesel Tiguan 2024 are combined with an all-wheel drive system.
There are two plug-in hybrids – with a power of 201 and 268 hp. The power plant now features a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine instead of the previous 1.4-liter. The capacity of the traction battery has increased to 19.7 kWh; the crossover can travel up to 100 km on pure electricity. Maximum charging power is 50 kW.
Engineers have modernized the crossover suspension: McPherson struts at the front, four-link rear suspension. The 2024 Tiguan received new shock absorbers and redesigned anti-roll bars, which should have a positive effect on handling. Body rigidity has also increased.
The front panel of the crossover has been completely redesigned. The car is equipped with a digital dashboard with a 10.3-inch diagonal screen. The media system screen in the base has a diagonal of 12.9 inches, and the top version has a 15-inch display. Climate control – with touch control. The projection screen now displays data directly on the windshield, rather than on a plastic screen. Of course, there is also wireless charging for your smartphone.

Volkswagen and Audi production saved: global IT failure resolved

The problems in the IT systems of the German automaker Volkswagen have been resolved, and production at the company’s factories in Germany is resuming. This was reported by the Bild newspaper with reference to a representative of the automaker.
“The IT infrastructure problems on the Volkswagen network were resolved overnight and the network is operating reliably again,” a Volkswagen spokesman said on Thursday, September 28.
The global production network is up and running, affected factories are back online and production should proceed as planned. Individual systems may still be unstable during the transition phase. Volkswagen found no indication that external influences caused the failure.
Earlier it became known that an IT failure affected most of the Volkswagen group. A significant part of IT systems and production was affected. In some cases, conveyors stopped and email did not work. The problem also affected other brands of the group, including Audi.

The next generation Mazda 6 will have a 3.3 liter engine and will be the “culmination of Kodo design”

The next generation Mazda 6 sedan is in development, as reported by the Japanese portal Best Car, citing its own sources. The first details about the platform and possible engines of the new Mazda 6 have been published.
The new Mazda 6 is expected to follow in the footsteps of the latest Mazda CX-60 and CX-90 crossovers, built on the Skyactiv Scalable Architecture platform with a classic layout, that is, with a longitudinal engine and basic rear-wheel drive.
The success of the Mazda CX-60 and CX-90 in North America, which exceeded the manufacturer’s expectations, became the basis for the launch of development of a new “six” on a new platform. An interesting engine range is also promised, which will include diesel and gasoline engines of 2.5 and 3.3 liters, as well as a hybrid based on a 2.5-liter internal combustion engine.
It is reported that the new Mazda 6 will not be a traditional sedan, but rather an elegant four-door coupe that is the “culmination of Kodo design.” That is, you should not expect a completely new design. Rather, the new design will be a modified version of the previous generation.
The note presents photographs of the Mazda Vision coupe presented back in 2017, which still looks very interesting.
The next generation Mazda 6 will premiere no earlier than 2025. The car has never been seen testing yet.
