All existing cooling systems will be incompatible with Intel Alder Lake-S Socket V (LGA1700) processors

As you know, Intel Alder Lake-S desktop processors and, possibly, their Raptor Lake-S successors will be designed for a new processor socket – Socket V (LGA1700). It will differ markedly from LGA1200 for Comet and Rocket Lake-S processors – a square with a side of 37.5 mm will give way to a rectangle measuring 35.5 × 45.0 mm. According to new information, even the height will differ, which will be at least 1 mm less. In addition, the location of the holes for mounting cooling systems will change. This will make all existing cooling systems incompatible with the new Intel processors. Images confirming this have appeared on the network.

It also became known that for the LGA1200 series of processors, Intel, in partnership with Cooler Master, has prepared the MasterLiquid ML360 Sub-Zero cooling system, which uses the Peltier effect. The disadvantage of such coolers is the high power consumption, equal to the power consumption of the processor itself.

The complete cooler will remain about the same as it is now. It will be sufficient for mid-range and entry-level processors with a TDP of no more than 65W. Of course, for the reasons described above, it will not be compatible with existing models.
