After a year and a half of waiting, we can confidently say that the Sony WH-1000XM5 headphones are on their way. They showed up in the FCC database
The Sony WH-1000XM line of headphones is considered by many to be the best in class both overall and in terms of the quality of the noise canceling technology. And in any selection of the best models, Sony’s solution is almost always either there, or generally takes first place. The WH-1000XM4 debuted in August 2020 without any major changes. It’s not yet clear what’s new with the WH-1000XM5, but it looks like they’re just around the corner.
Headphones lit up in the FCC database, which hints at an imminent announcement. Data is still scarce. The battery voltage has increased from 3.7 to 3.8 V, and support for fast charging has also appeared. The power is unknown, but the list of supported voltages includes 5 and 9 V.
There is also a nuance that one of the sources considers a possible hint of a design change. The fact is that the new model has an identifier printed on the headband, unlike the WH-1000XM4. But, of course, one cannot say anything here.

Samsung is going after Apple to release its mixed reality headset. The device will be released either at the end of this year or early next. There are no details about it yet, but it is reported that Samsung is also going to release its own Exynos single-chip systems for headsets.
Considering that these are only plans for now, the upcoming Samsung headset will apparently either rely on some foreign platforms or on existing Exynos SoCs.
However, new platforms for mixed reality headsets may not be entirely new. It is reported that Samsung has not yet decided whether it will develop these SoCs from scratch or simply adapt existing solutions.
The Chinese company Honor today introduced its new fully wireless headphones – Honor Earbuds X5. This is an inexpensive model with basic functionality and a low price.
Honor Earbuds X5 are offered in two color options – coral and white. Chinese users will be able to buy them for $40 starting June 7, 2023.
The headphones are equipped with 13.4 mm drivers, do not have active noise reduction, support touch controls, 27 hours of battery life with a charging case, and are compatible with the Honor AI Space app for smartphone control. In the application, users can adjust the equalizer and other options, as well as find headphones if necessary.
