A few days ago, Intel introduced the Iris Xe, the first discrete desktop graphics card in two decades. It is based on the DG1 GPU – it is also the basis for the Iris Xe Max mobile discrete card and in the Tiger Lake processors.

But last year, Intel showed a discrete graphics card DG1 SDV (Software Development Vehicle), intended for developers. And it was her that the source obtained and disassembled.

Such an adapter, as it turned out, consumes only 30W under load, and in standby mode, the figure drops to 4W. The average GPU frequency is 1550 MHz, which is a bit by today’s standards. You can also note 4 GB of LPDDR4X memory and a 128-bit bus.

But with tests, everything is complicated. Such an adapter works only on a special Intel platform, but the source, apparently, got hold of one. However, this did not really save the situation, since the adapter does not work in games and in most tests. As a result, we can only say that the expected performance of the adapter is comparable to the GeForce GT 1030.

The new GPUs are very compact. The smaller one has an area of ​​about 150-160 mm2, and the larger one has an area of ​​180-190 mm2. In comparison, the AD104, which the desktop RTX 4070 Ti is based on and the mobile RTX 4090 is supposed to be based on, measures almost 300mm2.

The AD107 has 3072 CUDA cores while the AD106 offers 4608 CUDA cores. In both cases, video cards will have a 128-bit memory bus.

Laptops based on graphics cards with these GPUs should hit the market soon.
