Apple’s AirPower wireless charger never hit the market, but today we can look at a partially working prototype.

A very poorly working Apple AirPower prototype was shown on video. He can give a lot of electric shock.

This instance has only one coil out of 22, and there are a number of restrictions on use, even in limited mode.

To begin with, we can see that the device actually works if we put the smartphone in the lower right corner, where the only working coil is located. It is not known how effective such charging is, and the state of the prototype would still not allow drawing at least some conclusions regarding the serial product.

As for restrictions, there are many:

  • You need to connect AirPower to the MacBook Pro port
  • You need to use the original Apple cable
  • It is desirable to charge only iPhone X / XS or AirPods
  • Apple Watch cannot be charged
  • Also, you cannot charge any iPhone Max due to the risk of overheating.
  • Leaving AirPower on for more than one minute is undesirable
  • After a minute of operation, allow the device to cool for five minutes.
  • Also, do not touch the bottom of the device, because you can get a strong electric shock.

Recall that Apple showed charging back in 2017, but later the company announced that it had abandoned the project. Then rumors appeared on the Web about its revival, and then about the final cancellation. According to reports, the project was canceled due to a number of technical problems, including overheating, charging power, software, and interference due to the large number of coils.

Tesla cars have learned to detect devices that allow you

The Teslascope team, who understands Tesla software updates, found something interesting in the latest FSD beta update. Tesla vehicles can now detect devices designed to simulate hands on the steering wheel while the autopilot function is in operation. If such devices are detected, the system will disable the autopilot.

In order to use the beta Autopilot and Full Self-Driving (FSD) features, Tesla requires drivers to keep their hands on the wheel. That being said, the automaker regularly asks drivers to apply some torque to the wheel in order to continue using autopilot.

This prompted some people to use some tricks. Someone just put a water bottle under the steering wheel rim, and some companies even tried to mass-produce special steering wheel pads that fool the Tesla computer.

Because the technology is still in beta and undeniably dangerous if drivers aren’t in control, Tesla is trying to get drivers to take the wheel regularly to be ready to take over.

Tesla is also increasingly using a cab-facing camera for driver attention monitoring, which can detect when drivers are not looking at the road.

The CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the well-known Chinese electric car manufacturer Nio, William Li, has revealed that the company is going to introduce its own smartphone in 2023. He spoke about it at the opening of Nio’s office (called “Nio House” by the company) in Dongguan.

According to William Lee, the company does not intend to compete with traditional smartphone manufacturers, instead Nio will try to make a device with a unique design. Naturally, it will be integrated into the ecosystem – with its help it will be possible to drive the company’s cars. The new model will be released annually.

William Lee stated that one of the reasons for the release of his phone was that the iPhone is limited in millimeter wave (mmWave) support, but this technology is used in Nio cars. It is expected that the cost of “mobile Nio” will not exceed $ 1,000.
