Perhaps this is what the gadgets of the near future that will replace smartphones will look like. The startup Rabbit introduced a device called R1, which is based on artificial intelligence and can do anything.
Of course, very conditionally, but still. The main idea of Rabbit is the most simplified interaction with a gadget through the simplest tool – voice. R1 is based on a Large Action Model (LAM). This is artificial intelligence, similar to Google Assistant or a similar service. That is, it seems that this is not at all an analogue of ChatGPT with voice input. But this AI can launch applications itself, search for information, place orders, and so on, without burdening the user with unnecessary details. That is, a person does not choose in which service to start playing music, in which search engine to search for information, through which service to order movie tickets, and so on.
But that’s not all that R1 can do. It’s easier to watch the video to understand that the device can do this, but we will note the possibility of evaluating the image through the camera (its quality, however, is terrible), and this can be either a simple task, like finding a music album by its cover, or much more complex: process data from Excel, convert and send by e-mail. R1 can also use some kind of neural networks to generate images or other tasks. Moreover, again, the user does not understand and does not think about how it works. There is no need to register on some service, search for some sites, and so on – all this is done by AI.
Separately, it is worth noting the possibility of training internal AI. The R1 has a special mode for this, where you can show the device through the camera and explain what needs to be done, and then the AI will do it itself. True, this particular function was not shown at the presentation, so it is difficult to say how correctly it will work after just one example for training.
Separately, it is worth mentioning the design. It was created with the participation of the famous company Teenage Engineering, and the device looks accordingly: laconic, technologically advanced, and at the same time bright and unique.
As for the characteristics, the R1 is equipped with a 2.88-inch screen, an unknown MediaTek SoC with a frequency of only 2.3 GHz, 4 GB of RAM, 128 GB of flash memory, a camera, the quality of which, judging by the presentation, is terrible, and a special video for management.
The result is an extremely unusual device, which perhaps shows what gadgets of the foreseeable future will look like. True, at the moment, the prospects for such a product are very vague, since now is the era of creating and consuming content, which requires large screens, universality of software and hardware, instant messengers and everything else that we are used to using every day. However, perhaps now Rabbit R1 will find its fans among those who prefer to at least temporarily give up smartphones for the sake of relaxation. Here R1 will be a more universal solution than a regular mobile phone, but the device does not contribute to uncontrolled consumption of information.
It remains to add that the new product is priced at $200 and will be released in March.
6.7-inch 120Hz AMOLED screen, 64MP camera, IP65, 5000mAh and 67W in a smartphone just 7.5mm thick. Oppo F25 Pro 5G unveiled
Oppo’s range of smartphones has been expanded with a new model – Oppo F25 Pro 5G. The device is thin (7.5 mm) and quite light (177 grams), and it also has IP65 dust and water protection, which is not often found in mid-level smartphones.
Oppo F25 Pro 5G is built on a 6-nanometer single-chip MediaTek Dimensity 7050 platform. There are two memory options: 8/128 GB for $290 and 8/256 GB for $315.
The AMOLED screen is characterized by a diagonal of 6.7 inches, a resolution of 2412 x 1080 pixels, and a frame rate of 120 Hz. The front camera is 32 megapixel, the main one has sensors with a resolution of 64, 8 and 2 megapixels. The battery capacity is 5000 mAh and supports 67 W charging.
AI in smartphones had to be invented at least for this. Comparison shots with 60x zoom taken by Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra and Xiaomi 14 Ultra
Insider Ice Universe, who has almost all the flagships of the new generation, continues to make interesting photo comparisons. Thus, in several photographs he demonstrated the operation of the 60x zoom of the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra and Xiaomi 14 Ultra.
The photo taken by the Korean flagship is not full of detail. The photo taken by Xiaomi 14 Ultra is already more detailed. But the photo taken using AI is the most detailed: you can see the tread pattern on the tire, corrosion spots on the wheel rim, and the texture of the road surface under the wheel.
Xiaomi, do you give Leica cameras to all smartphones? The mid-range Xiaomi Civi 4 will receive a Leica camera and 100W charging for the first time
Insider Digital Chat Station revealed details about the future smartphone Xiaomi Civi 4 – this mid-level model this year (in the spring, approximately in May) will replace last year’s Civi 3. And, naturally, the characteristics will improve.
According to the informant, Xiaomi Civi 4 will be built on the new SoC Qualcomm SM8635, which is also called Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 3. According to preliminary data, its performance will be approximately at the level of Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. And this will already be a serious bid for leadership in the sub-flagship segment , where MediaTek still rules the roost.
Xiaomi Civi 4 is credited with a flat screen with a resolution of 1.5K and “micro-curved” glass 2.7D, a Leica camera with a 50-megapixel sensor (Civi 4 will be the first non-numbered Xiaomi smartphone with a Leica camera), a 5000 mAh battery with charging support 100 W power, metal frame and glass back panel.
Previously, Digital Chat Station was the first to accurately report the specifications and release dates of Redmi K50 and Xiaomi 12.
