Kellyn Pelrin, an American gamer, has beaten a state-of-the-art artificial intelligence system in the Go board game by exploiting a previously unknown flaw discovered by another computer. However, in a game in which he won 14 out of 15 games, he did without direct computer support.
This victory exposed the weakness of the best computer programs in Go, which is characteristic of most of today’s widely used artificial intelligence systems, including the ChatGPT chatbot.
The winning tactic was suggested by a computer program that examined AI systems for weaknesses. The proposed plan was then used by Kellin Pelrin.
Adam Gleave, chief executive of FAR AI, the California-based research firm that developed the software for finding weaknesses, said the software has played more than 1 million games against KataGo, one of the best systems for playing Go, to find a “blind spot” that could take advantage of the human player.
The winning strategy, according to Pelrin, is “not exactly trivial, but not too hard” to learn by a human, and can be used by an intermediate player to defeat computers. He also used this method to win against another leading Go system, Leela Zero.
AlphaGo, a system developed by Google-owned research company DeepMind, defeated world champion Lee Sedol 4-1 in 2016. Then it was announced that this system could not be defeated.

The Chinese company Moore Threads is expanding its range of video cards that can be used in games. The latest driver for Windows now supports the budget MTT S30 adapter, which was introduced a few months ago.

We’ll probably find out what kind of gaming performance the S30 will have in the near future, but it’s worth remembering that even the S80 is not capable of competing with at least the GTX 1050. However, perhaps the S30 will be suitable for some completely undemanding online games.

The authors of the Hardware Unboxed channel compared all three Ryzen 5000X3D processors that are available on the market. These are the Ryzen 5 5600X3D, Ryzen 7 5700X3D and Ryzen 7 5800X3D.
Let us remind you that the first one has six cores, and the remaining ones have eight each. At the same time, the first one, unfortunately, is officially sold only in the USA and only in the Microcenter chain of stores. Official prices are in the same order of $230, $250 and $450, but the Ryzen 7 5800X3D has long been on sale for around $320.
Since these are gaming processors, we tested them specifically in games. Games are particularly sensitive to cache size, and X3D processors offer a huge amount of capacity for a typical consumer CPU.
As you can see, between the three test participants, despite the difference in frequencies and number of cores, there is almost no difference in performance. All of them are much faster than their regular counterparts without 3D V-Cache, which also show results close to each other.
Thus, among all this trinity, the junior Ryzen 5 5600X3D is the most profitable for gaming, but given its exclusivity, the Ryzen 7 5700X3D will be the best choice for most.
However, here it is worth comparing these CPUs, including the Ryzen 7000. In this generation, AMD has significantly improved the gaming performance of the architecture, so even the regular Ryzen 5 7600 is on par with the Ryzen 7 5800X3D. Moreover, the first one is significantly cheaper. Yes, AM5 motherboards and DDR5 memory are noticeably more expensive than their AM4 and DDR4 counterparts, but long-term AM5 support is a big plus. In particular, as you can see right there, the Ryzen 7 7800X3D greatly outperforms all participants.
But if you already have an AM4 PC, then the Ryzen 5000X3D is a great option to increase gaming performance.

The line of AMD Ryzen desktop processors has long included both chiplet models and chips with a monolithic crystal that have moved from the mobile segment. The recently quietly released Ryzen 7 5700 falls into the latter category, and tests show that this is a very controversial decision for games.
The TechSpot resource compared the new product with many other CPUs, but we are primarily interested in comparison with related models.
As you can see, the Ryzen 7 5700 is significantly behind the Ryzen 7 5700X. What’s worse is that it lags even behind the Ryzen 5 5600, which has two fewer cores and a lower frequency.
This is because Vermeer desktop processors have 32 MB of L3 cache, and Cezanne mobile processors have 16 MB, and this does not change when they move to the desktop segment.
Here, unfortunately, AMD itself confuses its consumers, because the Ryzen 5 5600 differs from the Ryzen 5 5600X only in a slightly lower frequency. That is, the absence of the letter X in the name is a sign of a reduced frequency and sometimes a reduced TDP. But then the company released the Ryzen 5 5500, which became the first mobile Cezanne in this line to move into the desktop segment. And if the Ryzen 5 5500X simply does not exist, and there is no particular confusion, then in the pair Ryzen 7 5700 and 5700X it is already manifested in full, since the difference between these CPUs is much more significant than between the Ryzen 5 5600 and 5600X.
And if in applications cache memory is often not so important, and two extra cores will always be an advantage, then in games, as we see, even the Ryzen 5 5600 is noticeably faster than the Ryzen 7 5700. Moreover, the first costs about $140, and for the second they ask for $175 dollars. Moreover, Cezanne processors do not support PCIe 4.0, which also needs to be taken into account.
As a result, the authors of the review call the Ryzen 7 5700 the most anti-consumer AMD product in recent times, bordering on fraud. However, it is worth understanding that this conclusion is only valid for games.
