A little-known startup promises to bring iMessage to Android. No Apple technology required
Apple has repeatedly stated that it has no plans to port iMessage to Android. However, third-party companies are making such attempts to facilitate interoperability between Android and iOS. There are already Beeper, BlueBubbles and AirMessage projects, although their success remains under big question. And now a startup called Sunbird is going to do the same, but get the job done.
Sunbird’s software is still in the alpha stage, it is being tested in a closed mode, an invitation is required to participate. It reportedly won’t launch at all for some testers.
It is noted that the new software will work in the cloud and broadcast messages from Android to iMessage and vice versa. Other programs, such as Beeper, allowed an Android smartphone to connect to a Mac, iPhone, or iPad as an external terminal, allowing you to send or receive messages via iMessage.
Sunbird has already shown a pre-recorded demo, but many questions from journalists have not yet been answered. And specialists from the Android Authority edition, although they got access to the system, but it did not work properly.
In addition, Sunbird wants to make the application a unified platform for WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Slack, Signal, Telegram, Discord and even SMS. True, in this case, the application will receive a closed source code. In general, it remains to wait.
The closed beta is planned to be released by the end of this year, and the mass launch is expected in mid-2023.

Microsoft Edge will allow you to launch web applications directly from the address bar

Microsoft has begun testing a new feature for its proprietary Edge browser that will allow users to launch web applications directly from the browser’s address bar. The feature is already available in an early test build of Edge Canary.
We are talking about PWA (Progressive Web Application, Progressive Web Applications). If the user has already installed the website as an app, the Edge suggestion dropdown in the address bar will offer the option to open the site in the app.
In addition to being able to open PWAs from the address bar, Microsoft is also testing a new “Install App” button in the address bar to quickly install web apps. It is also available exclusively to Canary users.

Twitter plans to create an analogue of PayPal and Apple Pay. The system will also support cryptocurrencies

Twitter is expecting another innovation – its own payment system that will support both fiat and cryptocurrencies. The company has already filed registration documents with the US Department of the Treasury’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Service. This indicates the imminent launch of the payment system.
The new system is expected to allow bank accounts to connect to Twitter to transfer money directly. According to the owner of the social network Elon Musk, this encourages authors to create more content, which will allow the service itself to earn.
This innovation will be another step towards creating a “super app”, which, for example, is the Chinese WeChat service. It has the functions of payment for goods, a news block. messenger, identification system and much more.
The source claims that the infrastructure for the new service is being built by a small team led by Twitter director of product management Esther Crawford. At first, the system will support only traditional currencies, but in the future it will also be possible to work with “crypto”.
Launch dates have not yet been announced.

Redesigned Paint with a dark theme is already available on any version of Windows 11, but Microsoft has nothing to do with it

Microsoft has significantly redesigned its famous graphic editor Paint with the release of the Windows 11 operating system. However, the application still lacks dark mode support.
It’s been a few months since the redesigned Paint app was released, but Windows Insiders Testers have yet to get access to the dark theme.
However, WindowsLatest has published a selection of screenshots that showcase the dark theme in the new Paint. Unfortunately, you can only customize Windows with additional dark mode effects using a new open-source third-party app called Windhawk. A mod has been added to Windhawk that enables support for hidden dark mode in Paint on any version of Windows 11 (21H2 or newer).
As noted in WindowsLatest, dark mode support for Paint is already present in the OS, but to activate it, you will either have to manually edit the application code or use the Windhawk mod. It’s also worth noting that third-party “hacks” are generally not recommended for enabling hidden features. Therefore, you can try Windhawk solely at your own peril and risk, or better, only on a virtual machine.
