A giant motherboard with its own touch screen and a price tag of over $2,000. MSI MEG Z690 Godlike goes on sale
Top motherboards are always quite expensive. And especially when it comes to a completely new platform. But the price of the MSI MEG Z690 Godlike stands out even in this situation.
The model that went on sale is estimated at $ 2,100! At the time of the announcement in mid-December, it was the largest and most feature-packed motherboard for Alder Lake processors.
MEG Z690 Godlike has an E-ATX form factor and dimensions of 305 x 310 mm. Almost the entire board is covered by a casing, part of which also plays the role of a cooling system. In addition to size and appearance, the board, of course, has many features.
For example, the industry’s first display built right into the protective housing. This is a 3.5-inch IPS panel, and even with touch controls. You can display various useful information on it, and with it you can control a number of overclocking settings. This may seem like a strange solution for a motherboard, but the fact is that this M-Vision panel can be removed from the board and used as an external unit by connecting it to a USB port.
Of course, there is also a backlight, and a very impressive one.
You can also note the 22-phase power subsystem, which the manufacturer positions as the best solution for overclocking.
The board has four slots for DDR5 memory with support for 6666 MHz, three PCIe slots, two of which are PCIe 5.0, and one (PCIe 4.0) is generally hidden under the shroud, six SATA ports, six slots for M.2 SSDs, a module Wi-Fi 6E, as well as an impressive array of ports. These are USB 3.2 (x8), RJ45 (10 Gb and 2.5 Gb), Thunderbolt 4 (x2), mini DisplayPort (x2). There are also physical buttons for working in the BIOS.

A “completely silent” 1300W power supply. Cooler Master showed two new products, but only the youngest received a passive CO

Cooler Master brought power supplies to Computex that they claim are absolutely silent.
The younger model with a power of 750 W is really silent, because it simply does not have a fan. By the way, this is the company’s most powerful power supply with passive cooling.
There is also a 1300W PSU. It has a fan, but Cooler Master also calls it completely silent.
The secret to successfully cooling such powerful PSUs without too much noise lies in the use of an evaporation chamber. There are no other details yet, as well as no pricing data.

Intel Meteor Lake processors will not be released until the end of the year, but a couple can be bought now

Intel just showed the Meteor Lake processor in operation for the first time today, and today a copy of such a processor appeared on eBay.
The OneClickWarehouse seller, according to the platform, has sold more than 221,000 lots and has a rating of 99.6%, so there is no particular doubt that this is not a fake.
The seller says that this is a processor with six large cores, eight small ones and a GT2 iGPU. The photos, unfortunately, for some reason are of very poor quality, but still one of them shows that the CPU consists of chiplets, which Intel calls tiles.
The seller also indicates that he has two such processors, but nothing is said about their condition. However, these are mobile CPUs that will enter the market only at the end of the year, so there is not much difference anyway. The seller is asking $1,000 for the lot.

So that no more GeForce RTX 4090s catch fire. MSI simply and elegantly solved the problem of the 12VHPWR power connector

MSI seems to have solved the problem with the 12VHPWR connector. It was enough just to paint it.
The company did not show at Computex the most simple and equally effective solution. It lies in the fact that a certain part of the connector is painted yellow.
When the connector is connected correctly, the yellow part is completely hidden in the case, which is an excellent indicator that the connector is inserted correctly. If, after connecting, the user sees yellow plastic, then he will connect the connector incorrectly.
The idea of MSI is very easy to implement by any manufacturer, so perhaps in the near future this coloring may become a standard. Of course, recently there has not been a single case of fire on the RTX 4090 or any other Nvidia video card, or it simply has not been reported, but in such a situation it will not be superfluous to play it safe.
