A galaxy has been discovered whose core emits plasma jets 50 times larger than the galaxy itself
Large elliptical galaxy NGC 2663 lies 93 million light-years from Earth. Astronomers from the University of Western Sydney have recorded that its core releases relativistic jets (plasma jets) characteristic of the vicinity of supermassive black holes.
As scientists note, these jets (they are also called jets) turned out to be 50 times larger than the galaxy itself. The team studied NGC 2663 using the ASKAP interferometer, which consists of 36 radio telescopes.
The work showed that jets of astonishing length – more than a million light years – emanate from the center of the galaxy. Such relativistic jets are produced by interactions of extreme magnetic fields with the matter of an accretion disk surrounding a black hole or a neutron star.
They look like a pair of narrow streams of plasma flying out of the object’s poles at speeds comparable to the speed of light. Astronomers have concluded that the galaxy NGC 2663 is surrounded by accumulations of invisible gas, which are condensed and heated by powerful jets.
According to scientists, intergalactic matter enters the galaxy, feeding a supermassive black hole at its center. The more mass and rotation a black hole gains, the more powerful the jets it creates become.

“Apple will spare countless animals and help mitigate climate change.” PETA Names Apple 2023 Company of the Year

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has announced the winners of its 2023 awards, praising organizations that it believes set an example for others on issues of the environment and animal cruelty. In 2023, Apple was declared company of the year.
In a blog post on Sunday, PETA commends Apple for its efforts to eliminate leather from its product lineup and its goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2023. This “sets a tremendous example for other large companies, while also meeting consumer demand for more environmentally friendly products. products,” the organization writes.
According to PETA, “Apple will spare countless animals and help mitigate the effects of climate disaster.” Instead, by offering accessories made from other materials, the company “allows compassionate consumers to feel good about purchasing eco-friendly products.”
PETA also praises Apple’s new line of Apple Watch bands and FineWoven iPhone cases, which are produced with fewer emissions than carbon-intensive leather production.
Although Apple shuns leather, that doesn’t stop accessory makers from using the material.

The “gypsy” Rolls-Royce Phantom from Ares Modena is presented – the first two-door model of the line in the last few years

Italian coachbuilder Ares Modena has unveiled the limited-edition Rolls-Royce Phantom coupe.
The new model was announced on Ares Modena’s social networks. A direct comparison with the standard Phantom shows the coupe has a shorter wheelbase, two massive hinged doors and a redesigned rear end.
Ares Modena reports that the model is available exclusively in black or white exterior colors, as well as in a two-tone configuration with a hood and windshield frame painted in rose gold.
The interior features “new materials and handcrafted finishes,” making each example unique and tailored to the owner’s preferences. Interior renderings show rose gold trim and quilting on the dashboard inserts, door panels and center armrest. Judging by the shortened wheelbase, rear passengers won’t have as much room as in the regular Phantom.
In terms of power, the coupe will likely be powered by a 6.75-liter twin-turbocharged V12 engine that produces 563 hp. and a torque of 900 Nm straight from the factory.
Rolls-Royce produced the Phantom Coupe between 2008 and 2016. To date, the only two-door model in the Rolls-Royce line-up is the all-electric Specter.

What will surprise Samsung Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24 Plus and Galaxy S24 Ultra? AI capabilities of One UI 6.1 revealed

Details (with pictures) about the artificial intelligence capabilities that will be implemented in the One UI 6.1 firmware have been leaked to the Network. A number of functions seem to be copied from Google.
For example, users of Samsung smartphones running One UI 6.1 will be able to generate wallpapers using text queries. It will be possible to specify the subject and background separately, and based on this data, the neural network will create an image. You can add a portrait or weather effects to your lock screen screensaver.
The photo editor integrated into One UI 6.1 uses AI to move objects from one picture to another using a simple drag-and-drop gesture. The editor will also be able to complete the images.
Samsung Notes will feature a feature that is currently available in browsers: the application, upon user request, will analyze a long note and display the gist of it in a few sentences. Samsung Notes will also automatically format handwritten notes after they are converted to text.
One UI 6.1 will be able to translate voice calls in real time from one language to another for both interlocutors.
This is probably not a complete list of AI capabilities in One UI 6.1. According to preliminary data, the first models with One UI 6.1 pre-installed will be the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24 Plus and Galaxy S24 Ultra. Samsung will officially demonstrate the AI capabilities of its new flagships on January 8, 2024.
