Hycan was originally a joint venture between GAC and Nio, but is now wholly owned by GAC. Hycan vehicles use technology from Aion, another GAC electric vehicle brand.

The new Hycan will be positioned as a mid-size minivan, which is the production version of the Hycan Concept-M introduced last year. The Hycan minivan retained the overall shape and proportions of the Concept-M body, unusual headlights and lanterns.
