8-core Intel Core i9-11900K beats 12-core AMD Ryzen 9 5900X in seven games, including Cyberpunk 2077

Intel at CES 2021 not only unveiled the flagship Tiger Lake-H35 processors for gaming laptops, but also talked about the Core i9-11900K gaming processor. The company compared the performance of its 8-core flagship to the 12-core AMD Ryzen 9 5900X. And in all the apps selected for comparison, the Ryzen 9 5900X fell short.

Actually, the games and test results in each are presented on the graph. Core i9-11900K is 2-8% faster, and 4.4% faster on average. The advantage is small, so in this case for the user himself everything will come down to other factors: price and energy consumption. Now the Ryzen 9 5900X costs the same as the Core i9-10900K, but if by the time of the start of sales (tentatively, in March) the Core i9-11900K turns out to be more expensive than the Core i9-10900K, and the Ryzen 9 5900X even becomes a little cheaper, then the choice will be obvious. Besides, the power consumption of the AMD processor is much better.

At the same time, Intel compared the Core i9-11900K and Core i9-10900K in Hitman 3. The first system showed 129 FPS, the second – 140 FPS. The advantage of the promising flagship in this case is 7%. And it is unlikely that it will convince the owner of a Core i9-10900K or Core i9-9900K to switch to a new CPU. However, there is still one important advantage in Rocket Lake-S – 20 PCIe 4.0 lanes, which is important for interaction with video cards and ultra-fast SSDs. In general, Intel talks about an increase in IPC Rocket Lake-S by 19% compared to its predecessors. The date of the appearance of new products of the Rocket Lake-S line on sale has not yet been named.
