7 must-see psychopathic series on Netflix

Among the most successful series and films on the Netflix platform are series about psychopaths. This is justified by the fact that naturally these people exert a certain fascination on the public. This is undoubtedly one of the reasons why the creators of series seek and stage characters more and more “deranged”. Committing more and more vicious crimes.

Indeed, in real life, we have aversion, even contempt or antipathy for psychopaths. However, in the series, we are immersed in the experiences of these characters, we feel the same things as them, we even manage to understand them and sometimes, we have compassion, sympathy for them.

Some viewers find the character of Joe Goldberg to be romantic, endearing, seductive, sexy, always ready to do anything to help and protect his sweetheart. Even if basically everything indicates that he is a psychopath, a neurotic and paranoid man. The same goes for Dexter, the character of the eponymous series. The viewer hopes that the hero will not be caught by the police. And for good reason, he only kills murderers!

The American television series is developed by Sera Gamble and Greg Berlanti. It was adapted from two novels in the trilogy by Caroline Kepnes, an American author. Namely “Perfect” and “The hidden bodies”. The third season is an untold story, which has not been adapted from the third novel.

In the second season, Joe Goldberg is in Los Angeles to escape his past and start a new life, with a new identity. He meets a young woman, Love Quinn. He falls in love with her and becomes obsessed with her. He fights to lead his relationship well, without suspecting that his new conquest is not so different from him.

In the final season, Love and Joe get married and welcome their first son Henry. The young couple still retains their obsession and violent habits. Joe continues to indulge in his obsession with other women. And his wife is ready to do anything to maintain the balance and cohesion of her family.

Both critics and audiences alike, the series was received with great enthusiasm. And moviegoers are eagerly awaiting Season 4, which will mark the series finale. The public is talking about an excellent series which highlights a love story between nightmare and madness. He finds moreover that the scenario is very well written, rhythmic and fine and that the actors knew how to bring the characters to life.

The American series was created by Joe Penhall. It was produced by famous actress Charlize Theron and David Fisher. On the Netflix platform, the series aired from October 13, 2017. And as a result, solve criminal cases.

This series has been well received by critics and viewers. On most sites devoted to cinema, the marks oscillate between 4/5 at Culture Top and 5/5 at FNAC. Cinephiles feel transported to an incredible television experience through this thriller which is at the same time brilliant, psychological and hypnotizing to recapture their judgment. Others speak of a subtle mix between cult series like “Le silence des Agneaux” and “Zodiac”. While others are enthusiastic about discovering or rediscovering famous cases and murderers in the history of the United States.

The End of the F *** ing World

“The End of the F *** ing World” is a British television series created by Charlie Covell. It is made up of 16 episodes that last an average of 25 minutes. The series tells the story of 17-year-old James. He lives alone with his widowed father and is presented as a psychopath. To pass the time, he regularly kills animals. But he ends up getting bored and decides to take it to the next level: killing humans. He sets his sights on Alyssa. A classmate who deals with many problems: her mother is a bit confused and her stepfather takes a special interest in her.

To escape her house, and to satisfy her need for adventure, she suggests that James run away together. The young man accepts without hesitation, seeing the opportunity to satisfy his desire to kill. However, his project will be disrupted. The two young people embark on a journey through England.

Ted Bundy: Self-Portrait of a Killer

For those who are fascinated by serial killers and especially Ted Bundy, “Ted Bundy: Self Portrait of a Killer” is the series for them. Both documentary, the viewer immerses himself in the world of this psychopath executed in the mid-1980s.

The series has been broadcast on Netflix since January 25, 2021. The serial killer had been sentenced to the electric chair at Raidford prison in Florida, for kidnapping, rape, murder and necrophilia. About forty people were victims of his actions in the 1970s.

On the side of the critics, even if the public is fascinated by the subject of the series, several moviegoers think that we could have gone further in the research, that we could have had more reconstructions of events, instead of photos of archives passed several times. Some did not hesitate to say that they were bored in front of the series.

Dirty John

Originally, Dirty John was an American podcast consisting of six parts. It was inspired by a true story. That of John Meehan, an American sociopath and con artist between 1990 and 2016. The said podcast was recorded by Christopher Goffard and created by the Los Angeles Times and Wondery. It has been downloaded over ten million times, approximately a month and a half after its release.

The title “Dirty John” is a nickname given to John Meehan when he was studying at the University of Dayton. He also had other nicknames like “Filthy” or “Filthy John”. All of them mean “disgusting”.

The series chronicles the relationship between John Meehan and businesswoman Debra Newell. The two lovers met on a dating site. However, instead of having a beautiful, fairytale-worthy love story, things will turn out badly for Debra’s family and the descent into hell will begin. In August 2016, Debra’s youngest daughter is going to assault Meehan. This will be self-defense, as her mother’s lover tried to kill her in the parking lot on the roof of her building. He will be hospitalized before dying three days later. Harassment, breach of trust, manipulation, blackmail, financial extortion form the plot of this series.

Regarding the critics, the public is rather divided. If for some the series is excellent and they salute the acting, for others it is quite the opposite. They’ll be talking about the worst show they’ve ever seen, with a silly storyline and no suspense. Since in advance, the end was known.

Don’t F ** k with Cats: a killer too viral

A mysterious stranger posts a video in which he is killing a kitten. Intrigued, shocked, Internet users around the world are trying by all means to find the culprit. The mysterious stranger murdered and then cut a Chinese student on camera.

The Netflix platform came back with this story with the title “Don’t F ** k with Cats: a killer too viral”. The trailer aired at the beginning of last December. And surprise! The identity of the killer has been revealed. It is actually Luka Magnitta, who is known as the “Montreal Skinner”. The three-hour-long documentary series tells the story of this criminal.

To further substantiate the plot, two of the web vigilantes agreed to testify. They returned in detail to the hunt which lasted several months. In addition, the viewer is immersed in the universe of the criminal through his portrait. We discover a man imbued with himself, but also very intelligent.

I am a killer

“I Am a Killer” has been the must-see documentary series on Netflix since 2018. Especially for those who love spine-tingling crime stories.

In this series, the murderers on death row tell their crimes in the first person, in ten episodes that each last an hour. The platform provides a beautiful, in-depth and fascinating insight into the stories of prisoners awaiting their fate.

The viewer is entitled to unprecedented images, never seen before. And he’s driven through prisons across the United States. Each murderer tells himself, all the events that led to his crime, and the crime itself. He explains his expectations and his motivations. And explain how they now perceive crime, once they are on death row.

The subject fascinates fans of stories related to serial killers. For once, they can listen to the people concerned, the actors, express themselves in front of a camera and confide in their doubts.

Psychopaths, no matter how scary they seem, fascinate us. It is enough to see the number of series, documentaries and films which are produced on the subject. In addition, even the authors offer us books and romantic thrillers with psychopaths as main characters. If the subject fascinates you, we have brought you fictional series and even documentary series on psychopaths. We hope, however, that after watching them on Netflix, you will fall asleep.

In The Batman, the Sphinx is inspired by the Zodiac Killer

The Batman Warner Bros plans remain unchanged

What would a super hero be without the super villains he has to fight on a daily basis? And the more dangerous they are, the better! Batman can boast of having truly fearsome enemies and not just because they have terrible superpowers: indeed, Batman’s nemeses are best known for their dark and extremely complex mentality.

Often when we talk about enemies of Batman, we immediately think of the Joker, Catwoman or even the Penguin. But there are plenty more! Thus in “The Batman” by Matt Reeves, it is the Sphinx who is honored. Much like the Joker, this villain has no superpowers but is just as twisted and deranged, if not more so. Matt Reeves said thathe was inspired by the Zodiac Killer to give the character even more depth.

Matt Reeves confides

It was during a conversation with MovieMaker that Matt Reeves confided in the Sphinx. The director said that “The Batman” version of the character is greatly inspired by the Zodiac Killer, a serial killer who raged in the 70s in California (United States). The latter was never caught, despite years of tracking and investigation, while he regularly sent letters to the press to brag about his murders.

The story of the Zodiac Killer has inspired many books, films and documentaries and now “The Batman”. Matt Reeves explained that he more or less modeled his Sphinx on the Zodiac Slayer. “He kills very important people in Gotham, and they are the pillars of society. Following the murders, it reveals the ways these people weren’t all they said they were, and you start to realize there’s some sort of association. And so you have Gordon and Batman trying to follow the clues to try to make sense of this thing.”

Who is the Sphinx?

Real name Edward Nashton or Edward Nigma, the Sphinx is one of Batman’s most formidable enemies. Preferring mind games to physical confrontations, he always attacks the Dark Knight in a sneaky way. With him, real intellectual arm wrestling awaits the hero. Especially since generally, it is the solution of the enigma that will allow him to thwart the set traps or even save people. We can’t wait to find out what he has in store for Batman in Matt Reeves’ film. See you on March 4 at the cinema!
