Leica has officially unveiled the Q3 full-frame camera. The novelty has many remarkable features, but the price is also considerable – $ 6,000 ($ 200 more than they asked for the Leica Q2 at the start of sales).

The Leica Q3 features a new 60-megapixel full-frame sensor, a Maestro IV image processor with 8 GB of buffer memory (the size of a single RAW DNG image is about 70 MB), and another improved hybrid autofocus system with recognition and tracking of animals, human eyes , faces and bodies.

Another equally important innovation is support for 8K video recording. True, there are limitations here. Firstly, the frame rate is 30 fps, and secondly, subsampling is 4:2:0 (when recording on the camera itself). Finally, the duration of shooting 8K video does not exceed 20 minutes. In comparison, 4K video can be recorded at 60 fps and has a duration of 29 minutes. Compared to the Q2 model, the battery capacity has increased by 340 mAh. This is especially important for high definition video recording.

Leica Q3 received a 3.0-inch movable touch screen with a resolution of 1.8 megapixels. There is also an electronic viewfinder – with an OLED screen with a resolution of 5.76 megapixels.

The Summilux lens has not changed: the focal length is 28 mm, the aperture is F / 1.7. At the touch of a button, you can get other focal lengths (35, 50, 70 and 90 mm) due to the crop. Accordingly, the image resolution is reduced to 39, 19, 8 and 6 megapixels.

Leica Q3 is protected from dust and water in accordance with the degree of IP52. There are built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth adapters, Micro HDMI and USB-C 3.1 ports. Even wireless charging is supported, but through an optional accessory that costs $175, the charging power will be 10 watts.

Honor today introduced the Honor 90 Pro smartphone, the main feature of which was the screen. It supports 3840Hz PWM and has been certified by TUV Rheinland to be flicker-free, which even people with very sensitive eyes will not notice. Yesterday we clearly showed that in this regard, it turned out to be Galaxy S23 Ultra and iPhone 14 Pro.

According to the international standard IEEE Std1789-2015, when the screen flicker frequency exceeds 3125Hz, stroboscopic flicker does not pose a danger to human eyes. The current PWM frequencies of 2160 Hz, 1920 Hz and 1440 Hz, which are widely used in flagships, are still noticeable.

The Honor 90 series screen has a contrast ratio of 5,000,000:1, supports 1.07 billion colors and 10-bit color depth. The Honor 90 Pro uses a 6.78-inch screen.

Honor 90 Pro is equipped with a 200-megapixel 1/1.4-inch optical format main camera that supports 16-pixel binning with an equivalent pixel size of 2.24 microns. It also features a 12MP ultra-wide-angle macro lens and a 32MP telephoto portrait lens with 1x, 2x and 2.5x modes.

On the front of the Honor 90 Pro is a 50MP portrait dual camera that supports 100° ultra wide-angle shooting. The minimum focusing distance can be as short as 2.5 cm.

The smartphone received a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 single-chip system, as well as a 5000 mAh battery that supports 90-watt charging.

Nvidia’s latest supercomputer unveiled: 256 GH200 superchips, 144TB of memory and 1 Eflops performance

Nvidias latest supercomputer unveiled 256 GH200 superchips 144TB of memory

Nvidia today announced a new class of high-memory AI-based supercomputers, the Nvidia DGX supercomputer powered by Nvidia GH200 Grace Hopper superchips and Nvidia NVLink switching system, designed to develop new generative AI applications, recommender systems, and big data processing.

The Nvidia DGX GH200 uses NVLink Switch System technology to combine 256 GH200 superchips, allowing them to operate as a single GPU. This delivers 1 EFLOPs of performance and 144TB of total memory—nearly 500 times more memory than the previous generation Nvidia DGX A100 introduced in 2020.

“Generative AI, large language models, and recommender systems are the digital engines of today’s economy,” said Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of Nvidia. “The DGX GH200 AI Supercomputer combines Nvidia’s most advanced accelerated computing and networking technologies to push the boundaries of AI.”

The GH200 superchips eliminate the need for traditional PCIe CPU-GPU connectivity by combining an Arm-based Nvidia Grace CPU with an Nvidia H100 Tensor Core GPU in a single package using Nvidia’s NVLink-C2C chip. This increases the throughput between GPU and CPU by 7x compared to the latest PCIe technology, reduces interconnect power consumption by more than 5x, and provides a 600GB Hopper architecture GPU building block for DGX GH200 supercomputers.

The DGX GH200 is the first supercomputer to combine Grace Hopper superchips with Nvidia’s NVLink switching system, which allows all the GPUs in the DGX GH200 system to work together as one. The previous generation system had only eight GPUs, which could be combined with NVLink into a single GPU without sacrificing performance.

The DGX GH200 architecture delivers 48 times the bandwidth of NVLink than the previous generation, delivering the power of a massive AI supercomputer with the ease of programming a single GPU.

Nvidia is building its own AI supercomputer based on the DGX GH200 to power its research and development teams. The supercomputer, called Nvidia Helios, will feature four DGX GH200 systems. Each will be connected to an Nvidia Quantum-2 InfiniBand network to increase data throughput for training large AI models. Helios will include 1,024 Grace Hopper superchips and is expected to be launched by the end of the year.

OLED and QD OLED TVs will drop sharply in price this

A fresh forecast published by Display Supply Chain Consultants’ (DSCC) market analysis department shows that OLED and QD-OLED panel prices will show a downward trend in the next two years.

DSCC said that prices for high-end TV models could fall in a few months thanks to improved production capacity and higher production volumes in 2023, with prices expected to fall sharply over the Christmas period.

The main OLED technology used in LG displays today is WOLED, which adds a white sub-pixel to each OLED pixel while retaining the standard red, green, and blue sub-pixels. Although this method sacrifices some color fidelity, it is better at preventing image burn-in. LG dominates the OLED market with its WOLED displays used in TVs such as the LG C3 OLED.

Samsung previously announced an agreement with LG Display to purchase 20,000 77-inch and 83-inch WOLED panels from LG, with shipments expected to begin next year. This news means that by reducing the cost of WOLED in 2023, the purchase price of LG will also be reduced, and the end effect for consumers is to lower the price of the TVs themselves.

FlatPanelsHD predicts that by 2026, the cost of a 100-inch panel will drop by more than $2026.
