Samsung continues to deal with the consequences of its decisions regarding the introduction of Games Optimization Service (GOS) gaming services to its smartphones.

Is Samsung's problem with GOS gaming services a result of the company's desire to save money? The head of Samsung Electronics responded to lawmakers

Earlier this year, a company in South Korea was sued in a class-action lawsuit over GOS’s work, seeking damages in the amount of approximately $210 per claimant. And now Samsung has to answer.

Samsung Electronics President Tae Moon Roh (TM Roh), who has already apologized for the GOS issue, albeit only to company employees, had to answer questions from lawmakers as a witness in a government audit by the Fair Trade Committee, the Korea Consumer Protection Agency and Korea Intermediary Fair Trade Agency.

In particular, the Rep. pointed out that the root cause of the GOS problem is that Samsung Electronics ignored the internal opinion of a number of experts that the hardware should be strengthened, as the company was trying to save money. The source does not specify what is meant by strengthening the hardware, but earlier there was evidence that when designing the Galaxy S22 Ultra, a number of engineers insisted on improving the cooling system, but this was abandoned.

Moon Ro, in turn, said that many problems with GOS have already been resolved, and the function itself was introduced in order to control the frame rate in games and the load on the GPU in order to prevent excessive heating of the smartphone. Unfortunately, Moon Ro either did not comment on the comment regarding savings in the development of new flagships, or the source did not provide these comments.

Separately, it is worth noting that the original news was published on a South Korean website, and there are many comments from the inhabitants of this country. And these comments are mostly very negative, including personally in the direction of Moon Ro, and not Samsung in general.

The Ryzen 9 7950X is far ahead of the Core

The OCCT benchmark database has been updated with the results of the already released Ryzen 9 7950X and the not yet released Core i9-13900K.

The Ryzen 9 7950X is far ahead of the Core i9-13900K, consuming significantly less power. Processors appeared in the OCCT database

In this case, we are talking mainly about overclocked CPUs, and in this particular benchmark, the AMD flagship easily leads.

The best score for the Ryzen 9 7950X is 3073 points, there are also scores of 2633 and 2976 points. In this case, the CPU consumed from 196 to 218 watts.

The Core i9-13900K scores between 2247 and 2421 points while consuming 253 to 320 watts. That is, the result is significantly less, and energy consumption is much higher. Of course, this is just one benchmark, and it’s hard to say how accurate its consumption measurements are, but it’s worth remembering that the Ryzen 9 7950X consumes about the same level as the Core i9-12900K or even less, while the Core i9-13900K has more cores and runs on higher frequencies.
