551 hp, range of 650 km, all-wheel drive, two 15-inch screens, 31 sensors in the autonomous driving system and the price is only $56,400. Presented Xpeng G9 – thunderstorm BMW X5 and Porsche Cayenne
The range of Xpeng cars in China has been replenished with the expected novelty – the Xpeng G9 crossover. This is a pure electric car capable of covering a distance of 700 km on a single charge in the top-end mono-drive version. Xpeng founder He Xiaopeng believes that the Xpeng G9 can even compete with Porsche in China. Well, in terms of dimensions, this model is slightly smaller than the BMW X5.
The design of the Xpeng G9 with narrow headlights is made in the corporate style called X Robot Face. It is easiest to describe it with the words simplicity and minimalism. For a crossover, the Xpeng G9 has a low coefficient of aerodynamic drag (0.27 Cd), which is probably facilitated by a spoiler on the trunk lid, which organizes airflow from the rear, and door handles hidden in the body. Vehicle dimensions – 4891 x 1937 x 1680 mm with a wheelbase length of 2998 mm.
Inside – also minimalism. Despite decent dimensions, there is no option with 7 seats – there are only 5 of them in any version. In the base – a speaker system with 8 speakers. There is also an option with 22 Dynaudio speakers, but for this option they ask for a surcharge of $ 3,100.
But inside, first of all, the central panel, almost studded with screens, draws attention to itself. There are three of them. The digital instrument cluster uses a 10.25-inch screen, and to the right of it, two 14.96-inch screens are installed one behind the other. Everything is controlled by the proprietary X-mart 4.0 system, based on the hardware platform of which is the Qualcomm 8155 SoC. Naturally, there is voice control and a couple of wireless chargers in the cabin.
Xpeng G9 received XPILOT 4.0 autonomous driving system. It may not be as advanced as Tesla’s autopilot, but nevertheless, the car can move independently even in the city. The system includes 31 sensors, including two (!) lidars and 5 millimeter-wave radars. Nvidia Drive Orin chips are responsible for the computing power of the autopilot.
The crossover is built on the EEA 3.0 platform. The basic version is monodrive, with a power plant with a capacity of 313 hp. on the rear axle. It accelerates to 100 km/h in 6.4 seconds. The top version of the Xpeng G9 is all-wheel drive, with two engines with a total power of 551 hp. and acceleration to 100 km / h in 3.9 s. Interestingly, in both cases, the maximum speed is limited to 200 km / h.
The base Xpeng G9 is equipped with a 78.2 kWh traction battery and has a CLTC range of 570 km. The rear-wheel drive Xpeng G9 also has a more “long-range” option – with a 98 kWh traction battery and a power reserve of 702 km. A battery of similar capacity is installed on the top-end version, but due to the greater power, its range is less – 650 km. Xpeng G9 supports fast charging – in 5 minutes the power reserve is replenished by 200 km.
The base rear-wheel drive version of the crossover costs $43,700. The version with the extended capacity traction battery is noticeably more expensive at $49,350. For the all-wheel drive option, they ask from $56,400, but the Xpeng G9 with all the options will cost $66,300.
China successfully tested a hydrogen-oxygen engine for the super-heavy Long March 9 launch vehicle, which will be used for launches to the Moon and Mars
China has successfully tested a new engine for its Long March 9 super-heavy launch vehicle, which is set to play a key role in lunar exploration and deep space missions.
According to the South China Morning Post, Chinese scientists have managed to overcome technical difficulties in creating a prototype of the YF-79 rocket engine, which is intended for the third stage of the rocket. Experts have successfully carried out three ground tests of it, according to the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC).
The 25-ton YF-79 is a hydrogen-oxygen engine with an expansion thrust cycle. The first stage of the Long March 9 with boosters will be powered by four YF-130 oxygen-kerosene engines with an additional combustion cycle. A pair of YF-90 hydrogen-oxygen engines is provided for the second stage of the rocket. New YF-79 engines are developed for the third stage, there are four in total.
It is expected that the “Changzheng-9” will be able to launch up to 140 tons of payload into low Earth orbit, from 15 to 50 tons to the Moon, from 12 to 44 tons to Mars.
Maserati GranTurismo Folgore: electric, powerful, very low and outwardly does not betray its electric essence. The car is valued at $170,000
Maserati has shared details about its first electric coupe called the GranTurismo Folgore.
Folgore, according to the statement of the company itself, will be the lowest electric car in the world – 135 mm.
The machine is equipped with three electric motors with a total capacity of 760 hp. This allows the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 320 km/h. At the same time, some sources talk about 1200 hp, which is also true. The fact is that the power of each electric motor is 300 kW or about 1207 hp, but the installation never works at such a power, giving a maximum of about 760 hp.
The battery capacity is 92.5 kWh, and it can be charged at stations with a capacity of 270 kW. The power reserve is declared equal to 450 km according to the WLTP cycle, but for such powerful electric vehicles this is a very conditional indicator. From the rest, we can note a mass of almost 2270 kg, a trunk of 270 liters, three screens (a 12.2-inch digital instrument panel, a 12.3-inch infotainment system screen and another 8.8-inch screen, but it is not yet clear Where it is located).
For those who still would like to hear the characteristic sound of the engine, Maserati offers a corresponding function, when recordings of its own V8 engines are played from the speakers in accordance with the nature of the movement. In addition, the company focuses on the fact that the design of the car practically does not give out an electric car in it.
It remains to add that for the car they will ask from 170,000 to 215,000 dollars. Sales will begin in the summer of 2023.
Tesla Model 3 loses control, crashes and catches fire. This was caught on video
At the end of last week, Mydrivers published a video filmed on one of the Chinese tracks. First, we are shown a Tesla Model 3 electric car engulfed in fire.
At the end of the video, we see how the Tesla Model 3 loses control at high speed in the rain and crashes into a fence. From a strong blow, the driver was thrown onto the road, after which the car was engulfed in fire. Tesla has not made an official statement about this.
Mydrivers notes that there have been a series of other accidents prior to this involving the company’s electric vehicles. In July of this year, artist Lin Zhiying was driving a Tesla Model S that caught fire after a collision.
Also, in July, another car owner reported that his Tesla caught fire in a tunnel.
