449 hp, mileage 1315 km on a full tank, acceleration to 100 km / h in 5.3 s, 2 kW of sound, 6 seats and 5.2 meters of dyne. The Li Auto L9 crossover is presented in China, and it has already caused an unprecedented stir
In China, a very interesting crossover is presented – Li Auto L9. This is not just a big, but a very large car – the length is 5218 mm, and the wheelbase is 3105 mm. In fact, this is an analogue of the Mercedes-Benz GLS and BMW X7, not only in terms of dimensions, but also in terms of equipment. But at the same time, his fuel consumption is like that of an average passenger car. And the price is more than acceptable – taking into account the dimensions and equipment.
The car is 1998 mm wide and 1800 mm high. The Li Auto L9 is driven by two electric motors with a total power of 449 hp. The power reserve is quite sufficient for a large and heavy car to accelerate to 100 km / h in just 5.3 seconds.
But electric motors are only part of the power plant of the car. The second part is a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine that charges the traction battery, with which the electric motors are connected. The capacity of the traction battery is 44.5 kWh, on pure electricity the crossover is able to travel up to 215 km (based on measurements in the CLTC cycle). Well, on a full tank, Li Auto L9 is able to drive up to 1315 km – with an average consumption of 5.9 liters per 100 kilometers. It is possible not to mention such a trifle as an air suspension, which allows you to increase the ground clearance by 8 cm.
And now about the equipment that will make marketers from BMW and Mercedes scratch their heads thoughtfully. Take at least the central panel. It has two screens with a diagonal of 15.7 inches each. The resolution is higher than in most laptops – 3K. The steering wheel has a small screen with a diagonal of 4.8 inches. It’s not touch sensitive, but customizable. However, one could do without it, since the car has a large projection display.
The Li Auto L9 has six separate seats, all of which are heated and electrically adjustable, while the first and second row seats are ventilated and equipped with a built-in massager. What else is inside? For example, atmospheric lighting with a choice of one of 256 colors, an audio system with 21 speakers with a total power of 2160 watts, two wireless phone chargers, as well as cup holders on the second row with cooling and heating.
A large OLED screen is mounted on the ceiling behind the first row seats for passenger entertainment. It is controlled by voice and gestures: six microphones are placed inside the car and several 3D ToF time-of-flight cameras are installed.
Li Auto L9 is equipped with an autonomous driving system that relies on 25 sensors to work. These include lidar, 11 cameras (six 8-megapixel and five 2-megapixel), millimeter wave radar and 12 ultrasonic sensors. Two Nvidia Orin-X single-chip systems with a total performance of 508 TOPS are responsible for processing the data of this entire arsenal. The car has collision avoidance and automatic parking systems.
The Li Auto L9 is already available for order in China with a $750 deposit. Pre-orders will be accepted until July 15, and test drives will start on July 16. Deliveries of commodity cars should begin before the end of August. The cost of the car is $68,720. But owners of Li Auto One are promised discounts of $1,500 to $4,485. It is not surprising that at such a price and parameters, the car caused an unprecedented stir: the company’s servers collapsed under the influx of visitors almost immediately after the announcement.
Tesla workers cannot return to offices, as Elon Musk ordered. There are not enough slots and parking spaces, and the Wi-Fi signal is very weak
In early June, Tesla CEO Elon Musk ordered remote employees to return to their offices, and they obeyed. Only, as it turned out, Tesla itself was not ready for this. At least – her facility in Fremont (California). Workers faced a shortage of tables, parking spaces and even Wi-Fi!
During the pandemic (more precisely, since 2019), the number of Tesla employees has doubled to 99,210 people. And although Musk himself has already recognized hiring as redundant and announced the dismissal of 10% of the staff, the problem of shortage of space in offices will still have to be dealt with somehow.
The lack of parking spaces is what was waiting for Tesla workers outside, but there were simply no empty spaces inside. Tesla has reportedly repurposed some of the space during the pandemic, and of course, this did not take into account the return of the overgrown staff back to the office. It is noted that the shortage of tables was so great that managers still asked some employees to work from home. And those who had enough tables and space complained about a weak Wi-Fi signal.
All in all, Musk’s plan to get employees back in the office was not without flaws.
496 hp, all-wheel drive and HarmonyOS. Huawei’s first electric car will be presented on September 12 – along with Huawei Mate 50
Judging by the rumors that circulate in the Chinese (and not only) media and relate to the premiere dates of new Huawei products, the company has revised its announcement strategy. If earlier car premieres did not intersect with other devices, now it is the other way around: cars are presented on the same day as smartphones. And so it will be with the company’s first electric car, the Aito M5e.
Recall, the other day it became known that the premiere of the nova 10 series smartphones will take place on July 4, and on the same day, Huawei will present its second car, the large Aito M7 hybrid crossover. It is possible that the car, smartphones and other novelties will make their debut on the same stage. And now the same is being said about Huawei’s first electric car, the Aito M5e. Its premiere is scheduled for September 12, and on the same day, Huawei is rumored to introduce the Mate 50.
There are no official details about the Aito M5e, but the car has already been listed in the Chinese regulator’s database, which has revealed key details. So, Aito M5e will receive two electric motors: 224 hp. on the front axle and 272 hp. – on the back. That is, the crossover will be all-wheel drive. The capacity of the traction battery will be 72 kWh. There is no data on the mileage on a single charge, but you can count on about 500 km.
Aito M5e is a mid-size crossover, its length, width and height are, respectively, 4785, 1930 and 1620 mm. But at the same time, it will be spacious inside, since the length of the wheelbase is 2880 mm. Weight Aito M5e, depending on the capacity of the traction battery, will be 2235 or 2350 kg. Externally, the Aito M5e will repeat the Aito M5 hybrid crossover, the first Huawei car. The interior will also be about the same as the Aito M5 – with a large screen in the center and a multimedia and entertainment system running HarmonyOS.
Prices for electric vehicles soared amid rising costs of materials, logistics and rising gasoline prices
American companies Tesla, Ford, GM, Rivian and Lucid have markedly increased the cost of electric vehicles over the past few months, according to The Wall Street Journal.
Manufacturers said the price increase was due to increased costs for battery materials. In addition, the demand for electric vehicles began to grow sharply against the backdrop of rising gasoline prices.
Last week, for example, General Motors added $6,250 to GMC Hummer electric pickups, which now range in price from $85,000 to $105,000. General Motors announced a rise in prices for materials and logistics.
Earlier, Tesla raised prices for its entire lineup in the US market, and also increased the cost of the Tesla Model Y crossover in China.
At the end of May, the average price of an electric car in the United States increased by 22% and amounted to about $54,000. At the same time, the average cost of a car with an internal combustion engine increased by 14% to $44,400.
