$ 220 memory card for Xbox Series S / X will be the only option to expand storage for new consoles for now

As you know, a branded card for expanding storage in the new Xbox consoles costs a lot. The Seagate 1TB model starts at $ 220, which is close to the price of the Xbox Series S.

And so far Microsoft has never mentioned other options besides the one presented. It turns out that they will not exist yet. That is, at first there will be only one single option in the form of the same 1 TB Seagate card, although, apparently, you can simply use fast external SSDs.

However, Jason Ronald – the head of the Xbox programming department – said that other card variants should appear in the future.

I think over time you will see these cards as a category that is very important to us. You will see several options, different form factors and different sizes. But what was really important to us was that we had a simple and easy-to-use option available from day one. You can expect more options to come in the future

Probably, later Microsoft will allow such cards to be released by different manufacturers, giving them the freedom to choose a design. However, prices are unlikely to go down much.
