2021 Huawei flagships could get liquid lenses

Huawei is in the final stages of testing a “liquid lens” for smartphones that will significantly improve image stabilization and focus time. This was told by a reputable insider under the nickname Digital Chat Station.
It is expected that the actual focusing time will be reduced to a couple of milliseconds. This corresponds to the focusing time of the human eye. Most likely, Huawei will apply this technology first in telephoto lenses – instead of moving the lenses, the module will change its “liquid form” by changing the voltage for focusing. In theory, these lenses will be more impact resistant than conventional lenses.
According to an insider, the lens will be paired with an as yet unannounced Sony IMX782 sensor. Huawei is expected to unveil the first liquid lens smartphone in 2021.
