20 GB of RAM in a smartphone is already a reality. But there is a nuance
At first, ZTE just hinted at 20GB of RAM in its smartphones, and now a technology called Memory Fusion Technology Pro is officially presented. The sense of its operation is the same as in smartphones Vivo, Oppo and Xiaomi: a section of virtual RAM (in this case, 8 GB) is created in the flash memory. And if the model has 12 GB of physical RAM, then it is added to the 8 GB of the virtual partition – and this is how 20 GB is obtained.
The company notes that the lack of RAM is one of the five main problems of modern smartphones. However, a large amount of physical RAM leads to an increase in the price of the model, so ZTE found an easier and cheaper way to expand the RAM.
However, Memory Fusion Technology Pro is more than just a virtual partition in flash memory. In order for everything to work properly, there are a number of conditions. First, flash needs to be fast – UFS 3.1 is fine, but not a slow eMMC. Second, the amount of virtual memory must be large enough. Third, the mechanisms for managing background processors should be adapted, taking into account the additional virtual partition.
Apparently, Memory Fusion Technology Pro will appear in future ZTE smartphones, and in already released models, the technology may appear with the next firmware update.

There are more than 500 million users of Xiaomi smartphones in the world. The company joined Samsung and Apple

According to the analytical company Counterpoint Research, there are already more than 500 million smartphone users in the world of the Chinese company Xiaomi, which has joined the club where Samsung and Apple already belong.
Theoretically, Xiaomi’s large user base could further develop the company’s brand if products meet or exceed expectations. It may also give Xiaomi more opportunities to monetize traffic on its smartphones and allow the company to effectively sell IoT devices, headphones, smartwatches and other gadgets.
2021 was a very successful year for the company, with users actively buying smartphones. Xiaomi’s successful global expansion is particularly noticeable in India and Europe, where it became one of the top three OEMs in the first quarter of 2022. In India, the company leads the market with 23% of the market, and in China it is in fifth place.
The average revenue per user (ARPU) of Xiaomi in China is much higher than other regional markets, with ARPU for premium smartphones higher than for lower-end smartphones. This partly explains the strategic importance of the Chinese segment of the premium smartphone market, although demand seems weak at the moment. The additional profit and revenue from Chinese premium smartphone users could help Xiaomi further subsidize overseas sales channels, expand into new countries and launch global marketing campaigns.
According to Xiaomi, more than 80% of internet service revenue comes from China, with the main contributor being advertising.

The iPhone 15 could do what Jobs wanted to see in the very first iPhone. It’s about the lack of a SIM card slot.

According to numerous rumors, the iPhone 15 line of smartphones may be the first Apple models in which the company will abandon the slot for conventional SIM cards. That is, they will completely switch to eSIM. As it turned out, Apple wanted to abandon the SIM even in the very first iPhone.
According to former Apple CEO Tony Fadell, Steve Jobs wanted to release the first iPhone without a SIM card slot. Of course, then there was no talk of any eSIM in its modern form. It’s just that Jobs liked the concept of the iPhone without SIM cards, and it could be realized by switching completely to CDMA networks. However, Fadell dissuaded Jobs from this idea, showing statistics according to which, the distribution of CDMA left much to be desired. Later, Apple did release a CDMA-enabled iPhone for Verizon, but that was just a modification.
Now, more than 15 years later, Jobs’ original concept may be fully realized. True, eSIM does not work in all countries, so Apple will have to continue to release iPhones with SIM card slots.
