16-core Core i9-12950HX, Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti and 360Hz screen. Asus unveils ROG Strix SCAR 17 SE, its most powerful laptop yet
Asus today introduced several new products, including the ROG Strix SCAR 17 SE, one of the company’s most powerful and most expensive laptops. So, it is built on a 16-core Core i9-12950HX processor, the most powerful representative of the Alder Lake-S line.

Recall that the Core i9-12950HX debuted last week. Its configuration includes 8 high-performance cores up to 5 GHz and 8 energy-efficient cores up to 3.6 GHz, as well as 30 MB of L3 cache. There are two options for discrete graphics accelerators: the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti with 8 GB of GDDR6 memory in the base version and the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti with 16 GB of its own memory in the top version. In both cases, the battery capacity was 90 Wh.

There are also two screen options: Full HD with a frame rate of 360 Hz and coverage of 100% of the sRGB color space or QHD with a frame rate of 240 Hz and coverage of 100% of the DCI-P3 color space.

There are two slots for RAM modules, you can install 64 GB of DDR5 memory. There are also two slots for M.2 drives, you can install two 2 TB SSDs. There are also Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi 6E adapters, HDMI 2.1 video output, RJ-45 network port, USB-C with Thunderbolt 4, one USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C (DisplayPort 1.4/Power Delivery) and two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type A.
Model dimensions - 395 x 282.1 x 23.4-28.3 mm, weight - 3 kg. The ROG Strix SCAR 17 SE will be available in Europe in the third quarter of 2022 starting at €3,200.

Budget video cards will become useless. Ryzen 7000 Mobile Processors May Get Ultra-Performing iGPU, 3D V-Cache Boosted
Phoenix generation Ryzen 7000 mobile processors are credited with incredibly powerful iGPUs. But these APUs may turn out to be even more interesting than previously thought.

Recall that these will be processors based on the Zen 4 architecture. The iGPU of the top models will supposedly have 1536 stream processors, which is twice as much as the Ryzen 7 6800U. This alone is enough to take iGPU performance to a whole new level. But lately, rumors have attributed to the new products a graphics core based on the RDNA 3 architecture. In this case, the performance gain will obviously be much more than twofold.
Now, an insider who has accurately described data about AMD video cards and processors many times has said that mobile Ryzen 7000 can also get a 3D V-Cache chip. This is allegedly indicated by information directly from the factory.
However, it is not clear whether this cache will work with the CPU or with the GPU. In the second case, it will be almost the same as Infinity Cache for Radeon RX 6000 video cards. And this will significantly increase the performance of the graphics core. True, it seems that such APUs will only be in the Ryzen 7000HX line.
But, if all these rumors and leaks are true, the same source’s recent claim that the Ryzen 7000’s iGPU could be comparable to the mobile 60W GeForce RTX 3060 doesn’t sound so fantastic anymore.

A new era in the Windows mobile game console market. GPD has already received the Ryzen 7 6800U APU for the Win Max 2 console
With the release of Ryzen 6000 mobile processors, equipped with very powerful iGPUs, a new era of Windows handheld game consoles is dawning.
The Aya Neo 2 console with Ryzen 7 6800U was unveiled yesterday, and now GPD has boasted that it has already acquired a batch of the same APUs, so GPD Win Max 2 test models based on this platform should be ready by June. Judging by the entry, the company did not expect that it would be able to get the processors so quickly.

GPD Win Max 2 was introduced back in March, but with a Core i7-1280P processor, but its graphics subsystem is no match for the iGPU in the Ryzen 7 6800U.
As a result, before the end of the year, at least two more portable set-top boxes with Windows that can handle modern games should appear on the market. True, apparently, in both cases we are talking about a Full HD screen, which creates an additional load on the GPU. For the same Steam Deck, the resolution is HD.

Nvidia unexpectedly updated the drivers for the “abandoned” GeForce GTX 600 and GTX 700 (Kepler). Users are advised to install the update
Nvidia has stopped updating Game Ready drivers for the GeForce GTX 600 and GTX 700 (Kepler family) since version 470, but now the company has made an exception and released a security update for them as part of the latest driver 473.47.
Nvidia points out that a number of nasty vulnerabilities have been found in previous versions of drivers for “abandoned” video cards. In the CVE (Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures) database of well-known information security vulnerabilities, they are rated 7 on a 10-point scale. Therefore, users of older graphics cards are advised to upgrade to the latest Game Ready driver. It is noted that the vulnerabilities have been fixed both in drivers for old video cards (Kepler in this case) and in drivers for new ones. For the latter, the WHQL driver number 517.77 is provided.
