128 cores, the most modern process technology in the segment and 16 cores per chiplet: only AMD can do this now. Epyc Bergamo CPU Details Revealed

Details and photos of the chips of the upcoming AMD Epyc Bergamo processors have appeared on the Web, which in their flagship version will have 128 cores. These will be the most multi-core x86-bit CPUs at launch.

Bergamo is based on the same Zen 4 architecture as Epyc Genoa, but the latter has a maximum of 96 Zem 4 cores, while Bergamo has Zen 4C cores. They can be called small cores by analogy with Intel CPUs, and they are really smaller in terms of area occupied on a chip, however, the architecture here, unlike Intel solutions, is identical, and the difference lies in the reduced cache memory of Zen 4C cores.

As a result, such a core occupies 35% less area on a chip than Zen 4. True, not only due to a decrease in cache volumes, but also due to the transition to a 4 nm process technology. Yes, Bergamo, like the Ryzen 7040, will be the most technologically advanced x86-bit CPUs on the market in this matter.

With the ability to shrink cores and all other CPU blocks, AMD has placed 128 cores on just eight chipsets. That is, unlike all other AMD CPUs on the market at the moment, one chiplet contains 16 cores, not eight. In this case, each chiplet (or CCD block) is internally divided into two CCX blocks, each of which has eight CPU cores and 16 MB of L3 cache.

Considering that Epyc Genoa has 12 CCD chipsets and Bergamo only eight, it is possible that AMD will release 12-chip Bergamo CPUs in the future, which will not require any significant changes. Such a CPU will already have 192 cores.

Chinese telescope FAST discovered 76 new faint pulsars

These pulsars are special in the sense that they periodically emit a pulse as they spin, which is why they are known as periodic radio frequency emission sources (RRATs).

Pulsars, or rapidly rotating neutron stars, are formed from the remains of the cores of massive stars after supernova explosions. Their high density and rapid rotation make them an ideal laboratory for studying the laws of physics under extreme conditions.

Unlike most pulsars, which emit pulses continuously, RRAT is difficult to find in normal pulsar search mode. They are isolated pulse by pulse from a huge amount of data obtained using a highly sensitive radio telescope.

Since the discovery of the first RRAT in 2006, radio telescopes around the world have discovered more than 160 RRATs. Detailed studies of several faint pulsars indicate that they are pulsars with special physical properties in the magnetosphere, and constitute about 5% of the total number of pulsars.

The Beijing Astronomical Observatory (NAOC) research team developed a new system for searching for individual pulses and systematically searched for individual pulses in data obtained from the 2020 FAST Galactic Pulsar Snapshot Survey.

The 76 RRATs discovered by the new method account for about 12% of the total number of pulsars discovered in the FAST study, according to Han Jinglin, a leading researcher in the field. This suggests that there are more such periodically emitting pulsars than previously thought.

To better understand the physical properties of RRATs, scientists also used FAST to observe 59 known RRATs detected by international telescopes. The polarization signals of these periodically emitted pulses detected by FAST indicate that they are emitted from the same region of the neutron star’s magnetosphere as normal pulses, according to the study.

“The study has important implications for understanding the dense remnants of dead stars in the Milky Way and their emission characteristics,” Han said, adding that highly sensitive radio telescopes such as FAST are the best tools for detecting such amazing pulsars.

Thus, the Panoramic View all-round viewing system is included as standard equipment. Now, looking at the media system screen, the driver will be able to better navigate the off-road track. The infotainment system itself has also become better (integrated navigation is already included in the base) and the rear view camera.

While the base Z and GR Sport versions were previously painted in Super White II, they are now available in Platinum Pearl Mica.

Based in Japan, the Hilux is equipped with a 2.4-liter turbodiesel engine producing 150 hp, mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. The pickup price starts at $27,275.

Xiaomi will add an internal combustion engine to its cars

Xiaomi, according to Chinese media, is working on extended range EV (EREV) systems for electrified models. The manufacturer is already recruiting development engineers with relevant experience.

According to the job descriptions, engineers will be responsible for developing and testing range extender systems, designing system components and helping to build the supply chain. Employees will also be responsible for researching future trends in range extending technologies.

The company is seeking engineers with a bachelor’s degree or higher with more than three years of experience managing the design and development of such systems. The candidate must also have experience working on multiple mass production and service projects. In addition to EREV developers, Xiaomi is looking for engineers for internal combustion systems, air intake and exhaust systems, as well as other engine specialists.

Xiaomi will add an internal combustion engine to its cars to increase the range

Xiaomi is known to be testing an electric car, but some media outlets have stated that the upcoming Xiaomi sedan is quite long, leading to speculation that the designers have left room for an internal combustion engine. Working as a generator, such an engine serves to increase the range of electrified models.

Back in August, Xiaomi began producing machines. As of early September, Xiaomi’s Beijing plant was producing about 50 vehicles per week.
