$ 100 Xbox Series X mini fridges sold like hotcakes

Microsoft began accepting pre-orders for its Xbox Series X mini fridge today in several regions such as the US, UK, Canada and Europe.

The unit at a price of 100 dollars or euros, depending on the region, turned out to be in great demand. In just a few seconds, online stores displayed the mark “Sold out”, in other regions the situation was not too different.

Microsoft has already reacted by promising a new batch of Xbox Mini Fridge in time for open sales, which are slated for December 2021.

The refrigerator can hold up to 10 cans of 0.3 l each with drinks, and on two shelves on the door you can place snacks. There is a USB port on the front of the mini fridge for charging devices.

Recall that in the fall of 2020, Microsoft, in the wake of jokes that the Xbox Series X resembles a refrigerator, actually released such a unit. There were only three pieces of Xbox Series X Fridge released. One such full-size refrigerator was received by Snoop Dogg, the second – by blogger iJustine, and the third was given to Xbox fans.

Qualcomm Snapdragon G3x Gen 1 SoC for handheld game consoles and first device from Razer unveiled

During the Snapdragon Tech Summit, Qualcomm unveiled the Snapdragon G3x Gen 1 gaming platform, which lets you play and stream Android games from your console or PC, and play through the cloud.

The Snapdragon G3x Gen 1 platform can be used to create handheld game consoles similar in form factor to the Nintendo Switch or Steam Deck. The platform is powered by the new G3x chip with Kryo processor and Adreno GPU, which support 144fps gaming.

The Snapdragon G3x Gen supports 4K display output or mixed reality headset USB-C connectivity. In terms of wireless connectivity, the platform supports Wi-Fi 6, Wi-Fi 6E, and 5G with mmWave for higher speeds. There is also support for Snapdragon Sound technology to improve sound quality.

Qualcomm has partnered with Razer to showcase this new gaming platform. The Snapdragon G3x Handheld Gaming Development Kit has been created, which features a 6.65-inch OLED screen with 120Hz refresh rate support and a 5MP webcam on the front for players to stream live while playing.

There is no word yet on which manufacturers are planning to launch devices based on the new Snapdragon G3x Gen 1 gaming platform. Qualcomm’s Micah Knapp says the company is currently focused on the developer community, and device launches are left to the discretion of OEMs.

Also announced was the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 SoC for Windows Mobile PCs.

Sony has improved the performance of the PlayStation 5 with a big update

Sony has released a fresh update to the system software for the PlayStation 5. Firmware numbered 21.02-04.50.00 is now available to PS5 users worldwide for installation.

As with most firmware updates for Sony consoles, the release notes are minimal and only focus on improving system performance. However, traditionally, renewal can also bring internal changes. This is evidenced by the impressive size of the update – 914 MB.

Sony explains in the release note:

This system software update improves console performance. ”

New system software is usually automatically loaded onto the console. You can also manually download the latest firmware via the PS5 System Settings (Settings> System> System Software> System Software Update).

Sony is preparing a game controller for smartphones. Information about this became known after Sony patented the corresponding device.

It is worth remembering that about 10 years ago the company released the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play, which was a slider phone with a joystick and buttons. The concept was quite innovative, however the device did not become very popular.

In recent years, gaming smartphones have become increasingly popular, which will receive additional shoulder buttons for use in games. In addition, numerous manufacturers are releasing game controllers for smartphones.

In the image in the patent, we see a DualShock-like gamepad into which a smartphone is inserted. The accessory has branded PlayStation buttons, two analog sticks, a D-pad, and the rest of the buttons well known to fans of the brand.

Most likely, the device will be equipped with vibration motors for feedback. In modern realities, when mobile games are gaining more and more popularity, such a gadget will surely have a large audience.
